Oddly enough considering the game's concept, Pickers has turned out to be a bargain itself. While the gameplay has a very tight focus – sifting through items to buy and sell may wear on some gamers – if the prospect of hunting for treasure in a marketplace instead of a dungeon appeals to you, this is definitely one game to check out.

I recently bought this game on a recommendation from a friend and found it to be a lot of fun. The game works with a simple buy-low sell-high kind of strategy but it works lots of elements into each process. You have to explore lots of different areas full of bric-a-brac and antiques to pick out the items you want to buy entirely yourself, while making sure that these items fit into the current 'hot category' such as kitchenware or vintage literature. You then have to haggle with the owner to get a good deal while also balancing to keep their mood high for future sales. At your shop you have to price items yourself with several options such as being able to pay to get an evaluation on a small number of items (though the item may be worth less than you actually paid to evaluate it!) or to auction items for a throw-of-the-dice cash price. To add even more elements, each area has a special hidden-object minigame that will give you a free item for your shop if you complete it, giving you a get out of jail free card if you can't find fitting items. All in all, it's a very enjoyable game and lasts a long time - I think my first complete game lasted 13 hours. The only problem is that I felt after the first playthrough it didn't have much replay value as the items and categories are all the same, if a little randomised, so it felt like you were just scouring the locations for items you remember were there, and it becomes agitating when you know a good item is in an area you haven't unlocked yet. On the plus side, it's fairly cheap! Full Review »
