A great add-on for fans of the Quake series and multiplayer mayhem. This is a must have for the frag fanatic.
-
85A violent, violent game that targets reflexive ability more than cerebral. But it doesnt presume to be anything but a frag-fest. In that regard it cant be denied that this program does what it set out to do very well.
-
85As an add-on pack, Team Arena rocks. It adds everything I wanted to see in "Quake III Arena," but wasn't actually there.
-
85Quake 3: Team Arena, in a word, rocks. The quality associated with id Software shines through in this mission pack. It is definitely worth your money -- go and buy it. I'd write more here, but I need to go play more Team Arena. I wish I were joking.
-
83A polished, tried and true gameplay experience, that, while not necessarily the most innovative, is a heck of a lot of fun.
-
80In playtesting, I found that a number of new additions to the interface simply get in the way of gameplay.
-
79It is also the best CTF add-on pack out there, which means cash-spending time if you're a consumer looking to play the best games for a specific type of online gameplay that money can buy.
-
78It's a good expansion pack. Not great, but good. It expands the gameplay of Quake III to new heights.
-
75It's a hit. But only by a pixellated margin.
-
A solid mission pack, adding a whole new team element. Team organization is something that is evolving in online multiplayer gaming, and it's nice to see Quake join the fray.
-
74Though its new features may not seem remarkable individually, when put together they comprise a number of interesting new strategies and also let experienced players organize team-based games based on those strategies.
-
70The graphics are great but come at a high cost, the new weapons and items are amusing but encourage random kills, and the maps are stunning but far too big for the number of people playing the game at the moment.
-
What it was designed to do, it does very well. It barely makes a pretense of doing anything else, howeverextra bells and whistles are definitely not part of the package.
-
To get the most out of this you will need to play it for quite a while, and those of you that do will no doubt find the extra features rewarding if you only dabble with the game this is not an essential addition.
-
65This should have been included with the original game, or as a free download a month or two after Q3A came out.
-
62Expands upon the original game by adding some much-needed variety and team-play action to the mix. The only problem is that, for an overly priced $30, gamers expect a bit more than a glorified mod that should have been in the game right from the get-go.
-
Despite its flaws, serious Quake III fans will want to snatch this up right away.
-
A decent expansion that is more notable for its graphical sheen, elegant interface and Classic CTF maps than something more innovative. Although fun with the right group of people, the expansion adds nothing to its genre.
-
50Needs a lot more to justify the price.
-
50While it's an improvement over the original, Team Arena is essentially a decent mod but it's nothing that can't be found for free.
-
While the power-ups are well done and Harvester and One Flag CTF are a lot of fun, this expansion pack will more than likely collect dust instead of frags.
