A platform game that leaves nothing due to the games from the golden age of gaming. Good gameplay and hardcore gamers have the arcade mode with limited lives and continues. The graphics is nothing extraordinary but the game looks beautiful. Lots of fun.

This game is really good. Brings back the rocket knight memories as a kid. I love to rocket boost and stab through groups of enemy's. This is a game where you have to think fast and you can go through this game attacking everything in site without getting hit like a Jedi using the force. They should remake the first and second one using this engine.

Of all the retro 2.5D platformers out there, Rocket Knight is one of the best by far. It is the sequel to a sleeper-hit Genesis game, and it *feels* like a Genesis game in the very best of ways. The controls are excellent; Sparkster is one agile little guy and zipping around is a joy. The graphics are everything you'd expect from a newer 2D title, with excellent animation and nice layers of 3D detail in the background. The game is charming, and all of the characters have a lot of personality. The completion time is only 5-6 hours, but that's perfectly normal for a 2D title like this. Like many 2D platformers, though, there are goodies to collect and many other reasons to revisit past levels, so if you want more from the game it is certainly there. Overall, I felt it was easily worth the $15 asking price- it may be short, but it's sweet, and the kind of game I'll be going back to replay again and again. Also, I would use a 360 controller- it has native support for them and the controls are excellent. There is a demo on the game's Steam page, so check it out! Expand

  1. Most of the platforming is top-shelf stuff, and the few issues with the controls notwithstanding, I had a great time with the game. Fifteen dollars is a bit high, though, for the amount of pleasure most folks will likely mine from the experience.
  2. Old school playability, sweet graphics on one hand, and a way too short lifespan on the other. Retro is maybe on, but there are a lot of better titles to try. [Issue#192]
  3. The game is great fun, but there's simply not enough content here for $15.
