• Summary: R.U.S.E. is a real-time strategy game that allows players to bluff their enemies to lead their nation to victory, controlling the action using views that range seamlessly from the heart of the battlefield to the full theatre of war. Players are plunged into the action thanks to the exclusive IRISZOOM Engine which offers an intuitive interface that allows for smooth, rapid transitions from a birds-eye view of the entire conflict, down into the heat of the battle and vice versa. In R.U.S.E., players use their brain as the ultimate weapon, fighting a war of perception, where the ability to deceive and mislead the enemy determines success. A first in a strategy game, R.U.S.E. promises to reinvigorate the genre by using deception to give new-found depth to the game play. [Ubisoft] Expand

  1. R.U.S.E. might be the best RTS released this year, and it is certainly the most original.
  2. Decaying genre of real-time strategies just got a revitalizing shot of fresh ideas and entertaining missions. Eugen Systems deserve a medal for their courage to bring that amount of refreshing news. [Issue#196]
  3. Ruse is very entertaining both in its campaign and multiplayer mode. Unfortunately the story is not very engaging and feels unnecessary. The depth of the game is what makes it different from the rest of the pack. There are lots of room for clever moves and lengthy battles.

  1. Just when I thought I was done with WW2 strategy games, this game came along. It is truly a breathe of fresh air, and a game that I wish existed for many years. Being able to control a huge army and move them quickly on the field while maintaining realistic circumstances. This game is a must for all those who want a good strategy game that isn't un-realistic. I can see this game becoming one of the main games along with SC2 that will be played in tournaments for the determining who is the true master in RTS games. I would strongly recommend picking this game up if you are a real strategy fan or a fan of any WW2 game. I started off back in the early 90's playing close combat on the Macintosh. Since that time I have been searching for a game like it, and finally something came along which is like it, and in many ways much much better because of the scale and magnitude of the battles. But then again, my old Macintosh wouldn't have been able to do that with 32 mb of ram, lol. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I do. Expand

This is a very unique WWII game, and a very unique strategy game aswell for that matter. Unlike other RTS games, such as Starcraft, the game focuses heavily on real strategy (instead of multi-tasking, base building and the studying of stats) aswell aas deception. My problem with it however, is partly the lack of content (few maps, worthless singleplayer etc), but mainly how unbalanced the game is, often it is just about building the most amount of tanks, back it up with some artillery and charge the enemy. Deception and planning doesn't really make that much difference, atleast not in the games I've played. A mediocre game overall. Expand

  3. You will likely start to hate R.U.S.E. the moment you have to make your Ubisoft account and you get the feeling that its one of those games you can play only if the servers are working and the company decides to let you, or you can find a decent multiplayer game. -1 right off the bat. This **** doesn't stop hackers hacking the games. After registering, "The game is presently unavailable, try later". Another -1. Then (LATER) on to the campaign , and a string of unneccessary and dreadfully animated, written and voiced cutscenes. -1. Once you get through long tracts of meaningless **** the game behind the advertising campaign is a mediocrity. There are great graphics and great concepts here, but the controls are poor, and the entire 'Wargame' feel to the way the units deploy functions neither as a combat sim, or as 'Battlefield Chess'. It looks like the developer commited far too many resources to this project at the concept stage, and they got a great UI and a really great graphics engine in place (WELL DONE!) only to find at the end, that the base idea is flawed, and the actual gameplay is wierd. It ends up playing and feeling like a really expensive and pretty looking version of BACKGAMMON or RISK. Nice idea. Very nice looking. But between my hatred of being subject to the whims of dedicated servers, the overly ponderous and abstract gameplay, and its total inferiority to the King of operational warfare, Close Combat V, this rates a mediocre 4. There were much better ways to play a war back in 1998. High end graphics cannot replace core gameplay. Big budget FAIL! Expand
