Yes, the game isn’t perfect but it’s a lot of fun.

While we're certainly not starving for Action RPGs these days Sacred 3 does manage to stand out.

I can see how Sacred 3 is going to upset purists and longtime fans; the latest entry has as much in common with Skylanders as it does with previous entries, to be honest. If you’re dead-set on an open world, this one’s dead in the water. If you liked last year’s Sacred: Citadel and want a slightly deeper take on it, however, it’s worth a shot.

Sacred 3 doesn’t do a whole lot wrong other than having lackluster writing. However, as has always been the case with the series, the action is very standard. There’s not a great deal of depth, but if you want to spend a few hours hacking and slashing your way through hordes of enemies, you could do a lot worse.

Compared to its obvious rival Diablo, Sacred 3 lacks depth and genre-stables like a proper inventory and constant looting. This makes the experience more arcade-like, and ultimately less interesting. However, team up with three like-minded friends for a bunch of monster-smashing, and Sacred 3 has plenty to offer.

For all intents and purposes, Sacred 3 is a beat ‘em up that can be completed by simply button mashing, and that’s fine to me. Yes, for fans it will feel like a very dumbed down version of their beloved franchise, but I still found myself wanting to complete it even when it did get a bit monotonous.

This is a good fun, except for those who look for something that feels like the first episode in the series. It's less RPG and more action, but if you're OK with that, it deserves a try.

Sacred 3 is a hack 'n' slash game that surprises for its combat system and cooperative experience.

A beautifully detailed, enjoyably shallow experience that's better with friends. Sacred 2 fans hoping for a real action-RPG likely won't be pleased, but as a simple, straightforward slash-'em-up, this stands ably enough on its own.

Sacred 3 is an entertaining 'beat em up' especially for its cooperative multiplayer mode... and nothing else.

Hack'n'slashing and action RPGing without loot means no replayability, and that's a true shame, especially considering the fact that the combat system is far from perfect, but not bad at all.
  13. 61
Fans beware: This is not a Sacred game, no matter how many threes they put on the box. There is no loot, no in-depth RPG elements and no open world to explore. Above all, the game is bursting with insufferable humor and exhausting voice acting. If you manage to ignore all that, there is a good chance you might enjoy the simple combat, co-op mode and decent graphics. Even though the whole thing turns stale pretty quickly.

Sacred 3 is so very different from previous installments in this series, that gamers that appreciate classic h'n's mechanics and open world exploration will be extremely disappointed. Keen Games have produced a game dedicated to consoles and "couch gaming". But if you put aside your prejudice, you could enjoy Sacred 3 - it's a pretty good action game with a funny fantasy setting. Fans of the classics have to keep playing Diablo, Path of Exile or wait for Grim Dawn.

Sacred 3 is an action game loosely based on the series created by Ascaron. Core mechanics are good but the game lacks emotional and structural depth.
  16. 60
Sacred went from a varied Diablo clone to a Gauntlet clone, but doesn’t live up to either.

Sacred 3, as you can establish from this review, is a game that has moved away from its predecessor’s roots to become more of a brawler with light RPG elements.
  18. 60
Way too simplistic and not enough variety. This does not feel like a Sacred-game at all.

Sacred 3 is a whole new experience but not a better experience. The game is linear, the gameplay is flat and the customization doesn't exist. In coop is fun to play, though.
  20. 60
It's a good approach, but the execution leaves something to be desired in almost every area.

Considering the scope of its predecessors and how far the genre has come since the series’ inception a decade ago, that’s as unnecessary as it is unwelcome. Still, there’s potential here and approached with the right mindset and a group of friends there’s some fun to be had. Streamline your expectations, in other words, and you’re more likely to view Sacred 3 as slick rather than shallow.

Sacred 3 is a mildly fulfilling hack and slash game that, while fun in limited doses, isn't a patch on previous entries, and does very little to stand out within the genre in which it wishes to now be housed.

There are at least three flaws that are sinking Sacred 3. The solo Campaign is really too monotonous and repetitive, the loot is practically non-existent and space for customization make us regret any past action-RPG. If the game can avoid an even lower score, it's only thanks to the good the graphics and online co-op, that, while making it less boring, cannot revive the lackluster game formula.

Overall, Sacred 3 isn’t the sequel that fans of the series were hoping to see, and hopefully Keen Games will pick up on the feedback offered across various outlets and forums if there are plans for another Sacred down the road.

Sacred 3 could’ve been a very good game, but it falls short on many levels. The co-op mode can be fun for a couple of hours if you play with a buddy, but there’s a big chance you’re already bored by the awful humor and cliché story. Sacred 3 is far from a worthy sequel to the series.

There is no point in comparing Sacred 3 to either of the two previous games in the series, as it unfortunately shares nothing with them. The game does not do much better even as a standalone title, feeling like a rushed project that has more in common with tablet RPGs than with PC ones. It quickly becomes a tedious ordeal, where gameplay is segmented and extremely linear, mechanics feel repetitive, and you end up clearing the same room over and over again, with little variance.

Sacred 3 is a fair hack-‘n’-slasher. It runs well, and if you’re into such games, I bet you’ll have some fun. But it doesn’t carry on its heritage as one of the most unsung action-RPGs franchises, and if you come into it with those expectations, you will only find disappointment.

Sacred 3 is a very mediocre role-playing game. It’s not the looks and even the gameplay has its moments. It’s the fact that there’s little content, and the content that is present feels bland. The porting to pc is handled poorly as well. Furthermore, Sacred 3 tries to be funny, but unfortunately isn’t.

Frankly, I’m not sure what the developers were thinking with Sacred 3.

While Sacred 3 isn’t a broken mess, there are few redeeming qualities to be found. Linear levels, repetitive enemies, meaningless progression, and insulting voice acting add up to a dreary mechanical exercise. There are far better options for action RPGs than Sacred 3.

I don’t think Sacred 3 knew what its own genre was. If it was self-aware that this was nothing more than a hack and slash dungeon crawler, it could have gone the extra mile and given it a refreshing arcade feel, like Dragon’s Crown did. However, Sacred 3 thinks it’s a serious ARPG, and as a serious ARPG it simply falls up short.

Sacred 3 feels distinctly average. The game works well enough at what it presents and is largely annoyance-free (though the checkpointing system could be better and I had a save-game issue where my progress wasn't saved from one session to another) but there's better and more rewarding games out there right now that you should seek out first.

If you’re bored out of your mind and you need an RPG fast, well, then stay bored. You don’t want to be even more bored. it’s probably best to return to games like Diablo 3 and Divinity: Original Sin, both of which offer ten times the content and ten times the fun.

Sacred 3 is an action dynamic hack and slash brawler game that suffers from the stereotype beyond imagination, technical problems along with game backlogs, whereas offering minimal possibilities of character development.

Sacred 3's primary primary flaw is that it's so easy to forget. It contains too little of what you look for in an action-first RPG, and distances itself it so far from its two predecessors that there is no meaningful connection left between the games besides the name and the setting. And that, as you can see from this example, doesn't mean much.

It's hard to find any reason to place Sacred 3 above the majority of action RPGs released recently. It doesn't do anything particularly well, with every aspect having been done considerably better elsewhere. Fans of the first two games in the series will likely prefer to pretend this never happened.

I have no doubt that some folk will dismiss Sacred 3 because it bears no resemblance to the previous core games in the series. But that’s not why it should be avoided by most. It’s simply not fun to play.

Sacred 3 has the skeleton of a fun co-op hack 'n' slash experience, but it's marred by too much repetition, balance issues, and the worst comedy routine this side of Open Mic Night at the Middle of Nowhere Comedy Shack.

If you liked Sacred 2 and how much more fun it is than Diablo 3, don't buy this. They've dumbed down everything for console users, a completely linear game, 0 customisation, no loot, less characters, two abilities, a shield break and a standard action style attack, this game plays with a controller perfectly, giving me the feeling this game was dumbed down for the potatoes. This game doesn't even deserve to have the Sacred name. I'd vote for the Sacred 2 servers coming back on any time with expansions and patches over this complete garbage of a game. All of the official critics rating it good are out of their mind or paid off. Sorry but this franchise just dropped the ball and with the money I wasted on this I think im going to have to start up playing Sacred 2 again. If it was named a different game I would like it, but I do not consider this "Sacred 3". Same way I don't consider Final Fantasy 13 as a real Final Fantasy game. Full Review »

From good RPG to casual console slasher. Thats all. Its not even RPG anymore, no loot, no exploring. Its might be funny to play co-op with friends, but its not what we wanted from Sacred 3. Full Review »

Instead of a conventional review, I'll sum it up in a few points:

    1) This game has nothing to do with the franchise "Sacred", except in
name. I don't know why they even decided to use the same name.
    2) It was clearly designed to be played on a joystick. Trying to play on the PC without the use of an analog joystick is an exercise in frustration. The WASD control doesn't work well at all.
    3) The game isn't so much an RPG, but more an action game with some RPG elements. A great comparison would be Dead Island: Epidemic - even though this game is far below in quality.
    4) The game is extremely linear. You advance, gets stuck in an area where you defeat a series of (repetitive) enemies, the path is cleared, you advance, and everything repeats again and again.
    5) The graphics, sounds and music are nice. But the voices are annoying.
    6) Becomes tedious. Fast.
