Take a streetfigher clone, graft it to a diablo clone and sprinkle a bauldurs gate clone feature or two and you have summed up the lack of originality in this game. The horse feature lauded is buggy with many spells and skills unuseable from horseback limiting them greatly. Graphics are decent however there is some blurring when moving. NPC's typical of other ones but with annoying Bunching together AI that causes problems in some areas. Music is nice. Skills like hard hit and others are found on most character choices. Thus skills are not at "individual as the makers claim". Also, Repeat playability is going to be hampered by the troublesomeness of many of the poor features in the game. North American Markets as well get a "gore down" version. Support is planned only for North American and Eurpean Markets so Australia, NZ and Asian potential customers have been "bunged". Overall it is a major disappointment and a good example of what happens when concept meets market management. Expand

It's a diablo-style game that introduces a few original gameplay concepts. It's only fault is lack of game balance (i.e. you are far superior in power than any enemy you will ever encounter) causing the game unchallenging and repetitive. Nice touches are horses and spells with a recharge time rather than mana (features that should really be introduced in all future RPG). My verdict: around 60% Expand

This game has potential but it seems somewhat upolished. The graphic engine is far from optimized, pathfinding is horrible, the skill-system is bad and sometimes next to useless. Nvertheless the game is fun to play, but the mentioned flaws prevent the game from beeing a good game.

I used to be a diablo player for like 3 years. this game is fun but lacks depth, and the technical issues faced when playing online is extremely frustrating, i can get stuck in the "connecting..." screen forever even when i plugged out my connection. this game really lacks a lot of things that will make it beat diablo or battle.net for that matter. The single player is less problematic, but the real fun is in the multiplayer which is a real sad case. Expand

As a huge fan of Diablo II I was really looking for Sacred to scatch my itch for a similar but new game. It didn't. The story is fine and the graphics are great but the sound, voice actors and gameplay are sorely lacking. The game also feels too much like a grind, even in comparison to the Diablo series. It's not a bad game but if you're looking for a continuation on Diablo play, you will be dissapointed. Expand

This game may be a Diablo like, but it kicks ass. Special features such as Combos, horses, and auto- adjustment of enemies toughness gives you a darn good challenge.

I feel the graphics and characters are well done, but the technical "glitches" in gameplay make it frustrating. Also many times I got stuck wondering what I need to do next.

Sweet Game. Or maybe.. Saaaawweeeeet! ANEWAYs, the gameplay is terrific and the entire feature is very likeable to Divine Divinity, which was also a smokin rpg. My g/f and I play it lots, plus the mutliplayer function gives the game an extra dynamic, enabling us to play quests together. Very Nice.

It seems like a decent enough game, except the devs didn't think to include the ability to change screen resolutions. So I'm stuck playing this game on a widescreen monitor at some abysmally low resolution with huge black borders everywhere (even on the top and bottom). Also, for some idiotic reason the whole game looks squashed horizontally, which is stupid considering the big black borders :P everytime i try and start playing the game, I get pissed off at how everything looks so squashed and i give up. Maybe sometime in the future i'll give it another go. but for now it deserves a 2. Expand

Excellent Diablo-esque game. While the areas are not randomly generated, the world is huge and you are free to explore. The music and sound effects are standout, and the graphics are beautiful, although it is limited to 1024x768. It's also one of the few games that gets crafting/modding items right. It's easy, and it actually results in items better than what are laying around or for sale. The classes are cool, too. Overall, probably my favorite Diablo-style rpg. (note: the game was buggy when released, resulting in poor review scores. The current build is excellent, though, and they even added a lot of extra content. I suggest the GoG version, as it has no DRM) Expand

It's a Diablo that isn't a Diablo. Really well made hack'n'slash, having everything that genial hack'n'slash should have. Playable, different characters, some are really original (vampire!), wide-open world, nice cut-scenes, tons of items... Genial hack'n'slash if you ask me. Right after Diablo II. It's sad that sequel is such a mess.

I enjoyed this game very much. It has some minor issues that other like games have, such as not being able to choose the sex of the class but those are cosmetic. Great storyline and fun quests. It never hurts to be able to trample the bad guys with your horse either.

  1. Sacred sets out to be little more than you’re typical hack and slash feast but with gorgeous graphics and a storyline/sound effects to match, but why shouldn’t we all devour it anyway?
  2. Fun, addictive and quite compelling, although the repetitive nature of the gameplay does it no favours and certainly won't win over those who require something a little deeper and more meaningful. The game at least captures some of the spirit of "Diablo."
  3. I was addicted again for days to the Plus version despite playing the original over half a year ago. The thing with Sacred is despite all its flaws it keeps you coming back for more and that for me is the sign of a quality RPG.
