  • Summary: Combining an atmospheric, psychological thriller narrative with stealthy exploration and intense shooter action, Second Sight gives players control of a character endowed with incredible psychic abilities. The game offers multiple approaches to completing levels either via stealth, dramatic gunplay, psychic powers or a combination of all three. The ability to psychically influence characters and remotely manipulate objects and individuals provides for a totally fresh gameplay dynamic. Second Sight opens with John Vattic, the player-controlled lead character, as he awakens from a coma in a U.S. medical facility where he has been subjected to traumatic surgery and experimentation. He doesn't know his name, he can't remember his past, all he knows is that his only hope for survival is to escape and unravel the mystery that has led to his imprisonment. Haunted by flashbacks, which are experienced as fully playable episodes within the game, and shocked by the discovery of his own psychic powers, the player takes Vattic on a search for his past and uncovers a fatal chain of events leading to a sinister conspiracy. As Vattic explores his present and past, the game weaves between these two different time periods, which run through the game as a dual-narrative. The player-controlled actions of the past Vattic have consequences in the present -- allowing a unique interaction between the player and the narrative of the game as Vattic's destiny is changed.   1. Overall, we though, found Second Sight intensely challenging, a creative alternative to other PC shooters and -- priced under $25 -- a great value.
  2. It's got a unique blend of gameplay quirks between its stealth, telekinesis, and shooting, and the presentation is well done, even by the standards of Free Radical Design. Sigh...but if only they fixed the game's general difficulty and replayability.
  3. Brings a fresh twist on a tired genre: providing the player with a real sense of choice – and coupled with an innovative USP, enchanting charactisation, a rich narrative and gameplay that really feels like what the game.
  4. It's got some flaws and it's not very long or replayable--you'll probably finish it in 12 to 15 hours, without much incentive to go back to the beginning--but it's fun while it lasts.
  5. Although the storyline and the graphics are still up there, the fact that the control system seems to be insistent on gamers using a keyboard/mouse combo does actually ruin the responsive feel that a console/PC controller gives you.

  7. More troubling is the fact that, while it’s easy to aim your crosshair at any part of a locked-on enemy’s body, it’s much harder to switch between multiple targets be they men or explosive barrels.

    This is personaly one of my favoruite games,the object controling,stoping people and stuff,become invisible,it's all just amazing.Oh and the story,it's really awesome I'd love to see second sight 2.This game is just perfect for me! Expand

    Brilliant story, great game, good graphics. great finale. Has a few camera issues. Not too difficult which is good. Good locations. Doesn't go on forever and ever (i like games that i can finish and then get on with my life). I beat it in 20 hours. Expand

    Extremely great game, I loved it when I had it for X-Box years ago, and still love it. It can get a bit tricky, but with all of the available options to deal with tricky situations, it makes it extremely fun. The ability to posses your enemies and use them to attack one another so that you don't wind up getting slammed is quite a unique ability that I have seen very few other games add in. Between being able to utilize sniper rifles, assault rifles, sub machine guns, pistols, tranquilizers and psychic abilities, this game hands down beats even many modern games in my opinion. It is well worth the money. Expand

    Oh my god, this thing is terrible. Way to complicated to operate and the weapons are ineffective. Empting an automatic into a guy point blank and have him not go down is, well, lame. Geez. Expand

    Typical PC port. I can't comment on the story because after an hour of dicking around trying to figure out how to make s*** work I finally gave up, said "screw it" and deleted the damned thing. I have no patience for this kind of crap. I might have persevered if I could just have found one, lousy walkthrough specific to the PC. Expand
