It was buggy at launch, and remains mildly buggy even after the latest patch(v1.06), but, even so, if you're the least bit into the concept of a band sim, Shady o"Grady is gonna rock your world. [June 2007, p.56]
Rising Star has its share of flaws, with the dated graphics and decent, although limited, audio palette, but at the same time, the game is rather endearing and is entertaining for both a quick-play session and those marathon times when you keep playing for "just one more gig."
An interesting debut, but one that falls prey to weak production and more repetition than a Ramones album.
Shoddy graphics and repetition means that this is more of a warm-up act than a stadium filler. [Aug 2007, p.92]
Outside the rabid RPG fans, who will be intrigued for the unique design, there isn't any engaging experience with Rising Star for more casual players. Even the most rabid of RPG fan will yawn through the poor design.
Rising Star fails the way a rock star should: under the weight of its own ambitions.
