Although it’s not without flaws, the sixth Civilization brings a lot of outstanding news and makes its mark into the history of the series as crucial point break to a slightly new form of a good old recipe. [Issue #269]

This is an astounding game. Civilization has always been associated as the benchmark for strategy gaming, and Civilization VI is now at the peak. This is as good as it gets.

An addictive strategy masterpiece. More freedom, personalization, complexity and meaningful choices than ever. The best things are an improved difficulty, different victory conditions, city management, historic characters and roles.

Civ 6 has a few rough edges, but they’re pushed far into the periphery by spectacular strategic depth and intricate interlocking nuances. Any frustrations I experienced were immediately eclipsed by my desire to continue playing. Just one more turn, every turn, forever.

Civ VI has improved upon nearly every system and mechanic in the game, at no real cost to the experience. It's the easiest Civ to play, but it's also the most complex Civ to date. There's enough default automation that you can ignore a lot of the minutia if you want, but micromanagers like myself will still have all the tedium they can dream of. There's nothing quite as satisfying as pillaging every single tile in an aggressive neighbor's civilization.

Civilization 6 core gameplay has not changed. The additions the developer made only contribute to the excitement and challenge. Civilization 6 is a worthy successor to the franchise.

It’s not my place to second guess game design. As you know, you go to Civilization with the game you have, not the game you might want or wish to have at a later time. But it is my place to note that when I go to Civilization, I’m looking for more than just a laid back single-player cities builder with the AI frittering idly in the margins. I cut my teeth on Sid Meier’s grand strategy without a brain-dead tactical layer drizzled over the top. I admire a lot of what Firaxis is doing to move on from the mess of Civilization V. They’re headed in the right direction, even if they are dragging a lot of baggage.

Honestly it grows on you quite quickly and it fits the game well, for a launch i would say this lives up to its predecessors, we already see a lot of features and there is a lot to do in this game without spoiling too much. The game flows great, costume game is fun as always with lots of options and factions to pick from. In conclusion I love it! Expand

ThisThere have been a lot of complaints about how the graphical style is 'childish' or makes the game 'for children' or casual mobile gamers. This could not be further from the truth. The very fact that I can eat my breakfast in the time this game takes to load (on a newish skylake 6600k with SSD and Radeon RX 480), should tell you that this is NOT Clash of Kings or some other such rubbish. The 'cartoony' graphics may well attract a few younger gamers - but that is not a bad thing. I've been playing Civ since I was 8 years old when Civ 2 came out and I readily admit to being a bit creeped out and scared by the expanse of jet black nothing which surrounded the 2x2 isometric diamond that constituted the known world.

For us older and supposedly wiser gamers i'd like to remind you that YOU DO NOT PLAY CIVILIZATION FOR THE GRAPHICS. This version of Civ is the most filled out on-launch that I can remember. The vanilla versions of Civ 4 and 5 were dull and lacking in features. The vanilla version of Civ 6 is at least as complex and I believe (having actually played it instead of commenting on screenshots) more complex than the fully loaded Civ 5 with Gods and Kings AND Brave New World expansions.

Simply put, this is the most refined, complex and satisfying initial release of Civilization yet. There are minor niggles (I want to move the board around with WASD but one does not simply find that option available). However, all games have patchable flaws on release so i'm told.

P.S. If anything, I think the graphics have been simplified just so that everything can actually fit on the board without the GPU tanking. Cities now span across the map rather than staying on one hexagon, which increases the rendering complexity significantly. Also remember that many people will be playing on Macs with 4k or even 5k resolutions. One of the graphical triumphs of Civ 6 is that it is playable in 4k and it looks wonderful.

One of the greatest things that was upgraded is the screen panels. Taking the religion panel as example, now it shows how many followers you got and much more.
The foes leaders interaction screen looks gorgeous now and more helpful.
I felt the strategy more balanced and harder to create a snowball economy, witch is great.
The main screen music is amazing, just like the new UI (user interface).
Overall the game keeps its well polished concept, with decent graphics and perfomace.
Im surprised that after several hours playing i didn't had any crashes.

The dark side of Civ 6

Although its very personal, i didn't like the new cartoon art concept, it makes me feel playing a cheap tablet game.
Some new screens are confusing, poluted and the icons don't help the player figure out at a glance whats going on.
The new leader interaction screen is very anoying, there is a long talk and the options take ages to fade on. Of course you can bypass this mess hiting ESC key but if you do this on a incorrect timing you close the whole screen.
One change that shows the new face of civilizations its the promotion screen. Instead of a simple panel with butons like previous versions we have now a screen that obliterates all your vision and show less promotions than before. More cliks, less resources and all for sake of a better looking UI.

    Final conclusion

The game went to a next level, thats sure, althoug i don,t like the new concept. The new mechanics are decent, and some old ones received great improvements.
My biggest concern is about gameplay. There is way too much resources in this game made just for a better looking and tablet users instead of being quick and simple for desktop players. And a lot more clicks needed to do same tasks.
The units, techs and strategic resources are reduced to a level that i never saw before.
I hope that modding comunity and dlcs bring more content to the game and fix all the anoyances. Untill then im strugling to give it a score of 7 out 10.

Tried to set up a multiplayer game with my wife - terrible. Should be ashamed of yourselves as game makers. I think, the reason it won't work is mac/PC, but FFS make an error message that says that. Don't let me invite her. Don't have her "visit profile" to accept. And sure as sh@t don't respond with some ambiguous version mismatch with host message when she does.

    Fix it. It's 2016.

This one just seems like a cache grab though. i find it frustrating to play, the UI lags, the AI sucks. It looks pretty but it's such a bad playing experience. I tried it when it first came out and gave up because of the bad AI. I tried it again and the game lags after about 20 turns.

    Awful.
