  1. From the character designs and the narration, to the tactical game play and challenging difficulty, there are few games out there quite like what the Space Bullet Dynamics Corporation has framed for us. You’re not quite at the level of M from the James Bond universe, but this might be as close as you get.

Hired Guns + Commandos + Brazil + Grim Fandango + Thief = PROFIT! Well, if you get over its initially confusing controls along with its mediocre artificial intelligence.

Signal Ops is far from the game it could have been. The concept is great and for the most part delivers, but the Bolt character class and his job of carrying a radio does a lot of damage to the overall design. It feels incredibly restrictive, refusing to let the player go where they please and take their time getting there. It definitely has some moments of brilliance, but they are often quickly forgotten.

The ambition of Signal Ops is admirable, but playing it is like trying to paint your hallway through the mailbox. [Aug 2013, p.73]

Signal Ops tries something unusual, showing a different point of view, but the strategy-game and the first person shooter components don't seem to get along. Due to the clumsy interface, the game's pace is slow and uninspired: a pity, considering atmosphere and setting.

Worth more as a curiosity piece than as a complete and functioning game. This is what happens when you attempt too much. [June 2013, p.85]

The ideas seem interesting enough, but in the end it looks, plays, and feels like a game from the mid 90’s; and not one of the the good ones.

Sadistic puzzles, ridiculous controls, sluggishness all around. The game is fun at times and the story is definitely interesting, but theSadistic puzzles, ridiculous controls, sluggishness all around. The game is fun at times and the story is definitely interesting, but the difficulty here lies in the generally unpolished feeling of the game. Strategy is worthless because there's really only two ways to play: stealthy or warfaring. Very little is explained and switching screens is a major pain and gives the player a headache very fast. Otherwise, concept is solid and would be so much better with a polished and more complete everything to it. Expand

Half baked product. Controls are annoying and clunky, advertises full controller support but half of the commands are not mapped/not availableHalf baked product. Controls are annoying and clunky, advertises full controller support but half of the commands are not mapped/not available (can't even go through tutorial), camera movements made me sick, crashes miserably if you try high resolutions. Sluggishness drains your willingness to accomplish anything and you quickly feel you should invest your time playing something else. I gave a 3 for the concept but the disastrous execution should make this game get a 0. Expand
