Sniper Elite III is clearly the best game in the series. Rebellion managed to correct some of the previous games' glaring mistakes and improve on its already compelling game mechanics. The only thing keeping it from achieving a higher score is a lack of focus in the story department and a couple of relatively minor flaws. Otherwise, highly recommended to both fans of the series and newcomers alike.
  2. Jun 26, 2014
The skeleton-shattering, long-distance kills are still its riveting centerpiece, of course, but even without the element of dumb fun they offer, Sniper Elite III would still be a smart, unexpectedly memorable experience.
  3. Jul 16, 2014
Sniper Elite 3: Afrika has minor defects and because of these it does not leave a lasting impression, but otherwise the game is almost the perfect sniper game. The criticism of the previous sections has clearly been taken to heart; the game plays much better and provides more satisfaction than any installment of the franchise before.

Sniper Elite III has some flaws - the AI works in mysterious ways and the storyline is silly. These minor issues don't cloud the complete image - the game is a well thought-out package with a good single-player campaign (full of semi-open missions), satisfying co-op and a solid, original multiplayer mode. You should definitely give Sniper Elite III a Chance.
  5. Jun 26, 2014
Sniper Elite 3 treads that fine line between realism and fun, but it comes together well, providing cheap kicks for those who enjoy over-the-top sniper kills, and a modicum of tactical depth for players looking for something more substantial.
  6. Jun 26, 2014
Perhaps a little short and a touch too narrow, but Sniper Elite 3 pretty much gives you a huge Nazi-filled playground, a sniper rifle, a satchel of explosives, and then waves its hand and lets you sort it out your own way.
  7. Jun 26, 2014
Anyone who enjoys a good tactical shooter, especially those with an affinity for the long-range kill, would do well to check it out.
  8. Jul 16, 2014
Sniper Elite 3 changes course and eventually turns back to where it still matters: marksmanship. If you play a mission the right way, you know exactly where to disable targets with deadly shots and then see in detail how the bullet whizzes through vital organs; gorgeous! The rest of the enemy base remains in total bewilderment, although it's too bad that they move quickly back to their everyday events. Yet Sniper Elite 3 is finally a sniper game that professionals can be proud of.

Sniper Elite 3 delivers a lot of content for you to enjoy.
  10. Jun 27, 2014
Surprisingly good compared to Sniper Elite 2 and great fun for sniper fans.
  11. Jun 27, 2014
A positive step forward in the series, which adds freedom and polish the gameplay mechanics. Recommended for those who enjoyed the series before, and still deserves a try if you like the concept.
  12. Jun 27, 2014
Sniper Elite 3 provides good tactical gameplay with an open level design. It may not be the best game around, but still a vast improvement over its predecessor.
  13. Aug 6, 2014
Sniper Elite 3 is a relatively fun niche shooter experience that improves some of the faults seen in its predecessors, particularly in regards to mission design and the open nature of levels. It's still weighed down by bugs, erratic AI, and a shoddy story, but it will certainly entertain fans of the franchise and those looking for a thinking man's shooter experience.

Fun enough for some dedicated campers, with some truly tense multiplayer action. [Aug 2014, p.50]
  15. Jul 21, 2014
Sniper Elite 3 is a great example of a studio that got enlightened by mistakes of its previous game, and thus successfully repairs its reputation. Open and cleverly designed locations full of possibilities will entertain you for hours. Thanks to its improved AI, although still problematic here and there, its stealth approach is a very viable way to missions accomplish, and a feeling of firing is wonderful. For a gamer untouched by the theme, the game will get tarnished its original lustre, yet if you long for some entertaining experiences with a sniper rifle, you should not miss Sniper Elite 3.

If you happened to play Sniper Elite V2, you already have a good idea of how Sniper Elite III plays - but this latest iteration does everything a bit better. With less than a dozen maps, relatively lacklustre story and questionable enemy AI, Sniper Elite III is a flawed but enjoyable game nonetheless.

Sniper Elite III is like working from home for me. Although I enjoy the tasks and executing them, I feel like there are ways to make doing them more rewarding and engaging.
  18. Jul 3, 2014
Sniper Elite 3 gets its sniping pretty right, but all the things it gets wrong keep it from reaching its potential.
  19. Jul 2, 2014
A good balance between precision sniping and arcade elements, Sniper Elite III is hampered by a severe lack of content, ambition and depth, but remains nonetheless an enjoyable experience.
  20. Jul 1, 2014
Fun sniping and great mission design just barely eclipse bugs, exploitable AI, and other issues that would make a lesser game impossible to recommend.
  21. Aug 27, 2014
Sniper Elite 3 is hardly worth it, but at least it’s nice to see that the series is changing its course.
  22. CD-Action
    Aug 25, 2014
Once again Rebellion did not step outside the familiar, comfortable zone of games that are interesting but not outstanding. [08/2014, p.60]
  23. Jul 1, 2014
If you can't get enough of dramatic, transparent shots of enemies getting shredded by sniper fire, Sniper Elite III has you covered in spades. If you're interested in more motivation beyond the glory of the kill, look elsewhere.
  24. Jul 5, 2014
Sniper Elite 3 is an idiot savant of a game, excelling in one specific area while being almost obtuse in many others.

It may seem that SE3 is absolutely hopeless, but it is not. After all there are not so many games around where you have to lie on your belly for half an hour and methodically perforate your enemies’ heads. If you prefer that kind of gameplay then Sniper Elite 3 will be the right choice in spite of all the bugs. [September 2014, p. 72]
  26. LEVEL (Czech Republic)
    Aug 25, 2014
A solid action game, focused on stealth, larger maps and picking enemies from a distance. The game has its weak spots but in overall, plays refreshingly. [Issue#244]
  27. Jul 11, 2014
In some respects – particularly in its graphics and slightly more refined shooting – Sniper Elite 3 is a better game than its predecessor. That said, it's grandfathered in a lot of Sniper Elite V2's AI issues, while also forcing players to micromanage too much when it comes to sniping.
  28. 60
Good atmosphere, lovelly weapons but the many bugs and the idiotic enemies makes for a pretty big let down.

Game play is less linear and gives the player far more sense of control. It's visually beautiful. Shooting compute based enemies in the nuts never gets old. Despite that I have to shave some score points of as a protest at the pricing of the day 1 DLC. $10 to get Hitler. $10 to open up a couple of different characters. Pretty rich for day 1. The game has a great engine. It makes sense then to wait a while and offer expansion-sized DLC, with new maps that EXPAND the core game. Instead Rebellion went down the path of cutting out core content to be resold with the rort of being a 'pre-order bonus'. It's a putrid idea and it is pretty silly to be doing that right in the middle of the Steam summer sale.

Only the truly stupid would ever support this developer after this release. It spits in the pc gamers face and shows just how little respect this company has for it's customers. Full Review »

Great gameplay AND x-ray, slo-mo nutshots. Cartman would love it. SCORE 84/100.

Looks great fully maxed out (I played ultra at 1600p - gorgeous). Fluid movement, good AI (extremely good at higher difficulty), good pacing, and HUGE OPEN WORLDS.

Definitely pick it up on sale if you like this genre. You will enjoy the experience and it has some truly unique features. Polishes up Sniper Elite 2 and it just nails what they are trying to do. Story is meh, but what did you expect? It's still 10x better than the drivel from Call of Duty or Battlefield, and much longer too.
