This game I thought I would say it is okay but it is actually a very fun game and it based on the tv series greatly and this game is a bit flawed but the game in metascore I would give a 90.

You keep track of your new friends via Facebook…
When you meet up with the neighborhood kids you find they’re in the middle of an elf vs human war, you start out on the human side and get to choose 1 of the varying classes, its then up to you to sabotage the elves and recruit new members for the kingdom
Stick of Truth was a relaxing time but the gameplay for me was just a bit too repetitive..
It didn’t take long for me to get bored with the combat...
This is a turn based rpg where you take turns attacking enemies with potential elemental damage, and effects like bleeding, or gross out…
with a bag on consumables for healing
    Nothing special…
You have mana which is used for fart magic you unlock as your progress through the game, and power points for special moves…
You also have 1 buddy with you when you battle…
Buddies are unlocked with story progression and can be swapped in and out like Pokémon at any time...
There’s a buddy for every ones playstyle or to balance your class out…
So a lot of thought definitely went into balancing this game…
You can also collect new weapons and armor in backpacks, or buy them at shops…
This game pokes fun at the rpg genre throughout, which is the only thing I really found charming here…
I personally found no humor during the combat nor really in the game even though they clearly tried really hard…
Humor is subjective.. I find games like fat princess adventures to be hilarious while others may look at me strange for saying this… but bathroom humor just doesn’t quite tickle my funny bone, though the game did manage to get few laughs out of me... but not necisarily with the ridiculous things going on like giving an abortion to stans dad, or farting all over the place to progress through the levels.. But when the game would sarcastically make fun of itself... these were the best moments for me as someone not really a fan of the TV show…
I feel like you need to be a fan to truly enjoy this and get the belly laughs I’ve heard so much about before playing...
There’s so much fan service here…
The entire town is mapped out and can be freely explored with tons of collectibles…
You can do side quests... search the characters drawers for junk, to sell for some pocket change, collect frustratingly missable collectibles like chimpokomon
It will keep fans of the show entertained for hours…
The biggest mistake I feel this game makes though is the whole having to fart or use these different abilities to progress…
It feels a little awkward switching through fart types, or shooting an object then switching to give commands…
    I could’ve done without this needless slowdown…
Shooting arrows is fine for the collectible aspect or knocking things down in the environment, setting up traps to kill enemies before you get into a battle with them… but I feel like the shrinking, the anal probe thing, and buddy commands got in the way.
While I didn’t get the laughs I expected, I can still appreciate this game for what it is though as a whole…
A well balanced, but repetitive, rpg with a decent story to keep you moving forward..
I give Southpark The Stick of Truth
    an 8/10

It's a really solid JRPG at its core, with solid 2-member party mechanics, deep enough upgrade system, good map, small puzzles in the environment, and a pretty cool and funny story. Better gameplay than a recently released and good JRPG (Child of Light) and really reminded me of some old Final Fantasy fun.

This is a very fun, very dirty game based on the series on Comedy Central. The game is straight from the guys who make the show and it's extremely funny. While the game is really fun it is also very easy. There's very little to grind here and very little in terms of moves. This is a very stripped down RPG and it definitely doesn't have alot of depth to it. It's goes by the way its humor goes and that goes a long way in my book. Other than that, the controls are hit or miss at times. Everything else about this game is fun and exciting and you will have a wonderful time playing it. Definitely a can't miss game IF you like the series at all.

This game was made FOR the fans of the South Park franchise, if you are not a fan of the show, you won't enjoy it and I feel a majority of the complaints come from people who don't actually enjoy South Park that much; which presents an interesting question, if you aren't a fan of the franchise, why are you buying a game that is obviously designed to be a delight for the fans?

The game, story, characters and writing are all a delight. The turn based combat had me slightly concerned as it's a fairly old way to go about running a RPG, but it works out well by incorporating new, fresh and fair mechanics that allow you to fully enjoy it without ever feeling like it's a full time job to play.

Another complaint I feel that is entirely invalid is the complaint of the game's length. Many people have voiced complaints about the length of the game - this game isn't about the time spent, but the experience it presents as you play it. People complaining about the game's play time are simply trolls or jerks at best.

If you are a fan it's an amazing game to play, the perfect amount of time spent playing it and well worth the cost of admission.

Fun game with a good storyline. The humor falls flat sometimes but that's to be expected from something like south park. The graphics are exactly the same as a South Park episode. The gameplay is traditionally turn based, but it is too easy, even for non-gamers it's just too easy. I like easy game, but even for me it's too easy. No strategy involved what so ever. A lot of fun though!

South Park and the Stick of Truth is a fairly traditional JRPG. You are the New Kid, a… new kid in the town of South Park. You are quickly recruited by the children of South Park in a make-belief roleplaying game involving beating each other with fake weapons.

The titular Stick of Truth is a stick which is said (in the game in the game) to grant its wielder control over space and time.

It doesn’t; it is just a stick.

But that doesn’t stop the kids from fighting over it.

The game is more or less designed to be an episode of South Park, though it is obviously vastly longer than any episode. The game revolves around the characters of South Park, and their struggle after a UFO crashes in town and a government conspiracy targets both South Park and the New Kid for destruction, all while the kids play their game and somehow fight off aliens, zombies, and the US government in the process.

The game’s core attraction is its branding and story; the game shows South Park’s standard quality of humor, for better or for worse. The characters have lots of funny things to say, and the interactions between the main characters – Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, and Butters – are all pretty fun. Pretty much every major character from the show makes at least a brief appearance, and Stan’s dad plays a fairly substantial role in the plot.

That said, while the game can be funny, it also is extremely crude. While South Park is often crude, the game revels in its crudity. The protagonist’s “magic” is his farts, Cartman’s own “spells” are his farts, there is an enormous amount of scatological humor, one of the standard status ailments (which many characters will inflict every battle) causes enemies (or allies, if you’re struck with them) to vomit, the protagonist can **** his pants if he eats too many burritos (which restore your mana)… the list goes on. While ordinarily this would be more of a side thing, this plays a central role in the plot, and using your farts in the world is a major aspect of gameplay. The game also features a visit to the abortion clinic (in a sequence which crosses the line twice), Nazi zombies, full frontal nudity (non-sexual – in fact, deliberately offputting), and a trip up Mr. Slave’s ass. There are a lot of references to sex (though the kids don’t really seem to get them) and, of course, copious amounts of swearing.

The overall plot itself is kind of nonsense, but it is deliberately so – the kids are making up a plot, while random, weird stuff goes on in town around them. Of course, it is possible that some amount of it is taking place in the children’s imagination, and it isn’t always clear how much of what is going on is real, and how much of it is the game within the game.

Frankly, this game doesn’t have much for you if you aren’t a fan of South Park, and even if you ARE a fan of the show, if you aren’t a fan of crude humor, this still might be offputting. If you aren’t a fan of the show, this game probably holds little for you, and if you’re easily offended, or don’t like scatological humor, you definitely don’t want to touch this.

The actual gameplay itself is hit and miss. Actual combat is pretty dull; while early on it is quite difficult, after you’ve gained a few levels and gotten some equipment it becomes progressively easier, until by the end of the game you’re often curbstomping the enemies so quickly they don’t even get the chance to attack. You get summons which can instantly end non-boss battles which just don’t end up being worth using because all of those battles are over so fast, they just don’t have any purpose. Even the bosses are weaklings; most of the bosses can be eliminated in 1-2 rounds of combat, and even the final boss goes down in fairly short order.

The out of combat stuff is actually okay. You have eight abilities which allow you to interact with the environment in various ways, and they’re used to solve various simple environmental puzzles. While it isn’t anything amazing, it can influence the battles and also allows for a bit more variety than just “run down the halls into combat.” The environmental interaction makes the game feel much more interactive, and without it, I doubt it would even be all that interesting to play. Alas, bypassing the battles is mostly pointless, seeing as they’re so easy anyway, but still, there’s some feeling of satisfaction in taking out every enemy with the scenery when it is possible to do.

The game is full of sidequests which serve to get the New Kid to wander around town and do more stuff, adding friends on the in-game facebook and gathering equipment and cosmetic items to change your character in-game. Ultimately, though, the game is pretty short; the core story just isn’t very long, so unless you do everything, the game itself is likely to end up being only a bit over 10 hours long. Even 100%ing it as I did stretched it only to about 21 hours of gameplay, and frankly, at that, it was too long.

This is for South Park fans only.

Honestly, there really aren't too many issues to be found with this game, aside from maybe if you don't enjoy the sense of humor it employs, or haven't really paid too much attention to the show- which could mean you miss quite a few references. There are a few technical hiccups on consoles, but curiously many of them are absent on computers- so that would be the route I'd go, given the opportunity and for want of a better game experience. Skins may sometimes glitch out of existence, entire inventory objects may sometimes disappear, and entering areas could cause framerate drops- but never anything truly permanent came to pass. This was, note, all on the Xbox systems that I noticed issues, not the play Station ones or PC. All in all, the experience is grand, enjoyable, and the objectives are faithful and unique to say the least.

Concept: Make a good South Park game, and succeed, for the first time in nearly twenty years it seems. This is truly a milestone.

Graphics: Well, it really looks like a South Park episode, so that's quite an accomplishment as well (as emulating style and design goes).

Sound: I'm glad they were able to get the voice work of series pros (Stone/Parker), as anything other that that would be noticeably fake I would think. As far as music itself goes, as with the show there isn't much, but it does work well in the particular moments of drama and need.

Playability: It's a really unique and well pieced together game full of traditional and not so conventional RPG elements that mesh together pretty well for the most part. All in all, a fun adventure and entirely playable experience.

Entertainment: Very funny, and therefore very entertaining- from both a game and humor perspective.

    Replay Value: Moderately High.

    Overall Score: 9.0

There's a good amount of the TV show character voices - you get to meet most of the cast, and they have 2-3 phrases they say, plus they can send you some messages on the in-game facebook equivalent.

Gameplay wise, this is a lite version of RPG, and while there's a lot of outfits you can wear, all of them are level locked, meaning that you cannot wear all the stuff you find, and after you level up, some stuff becomes totally useless.

In terms of combat mechanics, the game tries to be an action RPG, but kinda fails at it. You get to use skills and can tap some keys to make your skills better, you tap keys to block. There's armor, shield, maybe 8 different buffs and debuffs, but all of them feel rather extraneous, and even on hardcore mode, most bosses and enemies die in just a few rounds.

There's a fairly small number of side quests you can complete, and sometimes that requires the use of party members and their special abilities.

After a few hours, the gameplay gets repetitive, and the challenge disappears. This game is not worth the hype and 60$ price tag. Maybe for 20$ this would be a cool game to play over a weekend.

The presentation is the best possible apart from some stutters and the story is one of the best for the series. It really matches the show's character, the video game character and it makes you feel like a kid playing rpg's in your neighbourhood.

I think I would like to have the whole party in all of my battles and I would like probably bigger battles, but from a non-RPG gamer, like me, this is the first turn based RPG that I actually enjoyed. The first time I really enjoyed browsing through the menus and my powers and weapon stap-ons!

It's been a long journey here, let's face it. All the previous South Park games felt like the scripts were lifted from the episodes and, if anything, made me think "Trey Parker, stop stealing my money for **** ... but then... the game opens... I create a character (charming, in that South Park way) and then enter the town of South Park and straight into meeting Butters & shortly after, Cartman.
At this point, just 10 minutes in, I loved it. Unapologetically loved it. Like a giant ball of South Park memorabilia, exploring the town and playing "Lord of the Rings" with the kids was exceptionally fun, and I was happy. Then the game takes a darker turn. Then a darker turn after that. Then it goes to the bottom of the bucket of all that is poor taste and scrapes along eagerly to be the outright offensive. This is when you know the boys did good. Finally a South Park game gamers can not only enjoy for being the lure of South Park itself, but also for being a genuinely fun RPG!

I won't put in spoilers, but farting on balls, Manbearpig, nazi zombies and a lot worse make for an incredible little journey whereby you will get to meet or use every character in the South Park world.

    Why not a 10?

The game ended. It ended and left me upset. It is only 30hours long or so, and I completed it in 38hours including collecting everything etc.

    3/10/14 Update:
After finishing up the game and seeing what all I had left to be done. I would like to update my review. The game has too much sexual content like characters showing off their privates. The game is mainly about farting because its the only way to beat it plus its a high attack ratting. It's funny but after five hours of seeing it / hearing it, it gets old. There's a mission or two where it requires jimmy and when he starts to talking, he can't stop studdering and the player cannot skip through it so it's like listening to a broken record player. Uses same jokes more than 10 times.

Exploring the map of South Park was a rare joy, so much so that I regularly forgot what it was I was supposed to be doing. There are a lot of puzzles to do, hidden stuff to find, many side quests and collectables to look for, mini games and a perk system of character upgrades linked to the amount of friends you can get on Facebook. Almost everything is a blast on the first play through and the writing up to the usual SP standards. For me the highlight comes early, when Cartman gives you the option of playing either a wizard, a warrior, a thief or a Jew. If only this choice made any difference...

But it does not. You get four abilities depending on what you choose, but everything else stays the same. And since you are basically perma OP anyway you could probably squeak by without even using most of them. This also makes the combat repetitive and mostly boring, weirdness aside, and it also makes gear almost entirely cosmetic, since you don`t really need it. Some of the mandatory mini games are also amazingly poor and either broken or so poorly translated from Xbox they are essentially impossible to pass, unless you look them up online to discover that the instructions you`re given are misleading, to say the least. Without this help I would have gotten stuck somewhere in the middle and been very annoyed.
It is a shame that the gameplay doesn`t quite match the quality of the design, writing and satire, in what is in essence an open world South Park not missing a thing from the TV show. But when the best part is exploring the town and talking to all the characters we`re not dealing with a very good game in itself.

So in conclusion, The Stick of Truth is a must for anyone who likes South Park and is basically a season of content all by itself. It can not be recommended to RPG fans though, unless they also like South Park. And after you`re done with it you`re done, since there is basically no replay value at all.

For 10-15$ it's definitely worth the playthrough. Don't get me wrong it's actually quite fun though it's not gameplay heavy you get to explore South Park like never before. They didn't screw it up like the other franchised games based on cartoon series.

It's a great... South Park cartoon episode. It's as simple as that - the license and a good scenario made of everything that appeared in SP cartoons make this game noticeable. If not the SP paint all over it, no one would even know such game exists.
Because the game is awful and by its nature doesn't deserve any price tag at all. There were more compelling flash games on Newgrounds back

I didnt enjoy that game much. Sure, the beginning is very funny, because the story is funny. But then the boring and arcade gameplay is taking part and the game cant hide their weak sides. The saving system is frustrating too, because it is not free. In addition the graphics is extremely low. After few hours I deinstalled and played another RPG....a real RPG ;)

It really does stay true to South Park, but if you're looking for something original or new, or a quality RPG experience, stay away. If you'd like a trip down memory lane... Get it (unless you're bad at games).

In true South Park fashion Cartman starts the mud slinging as soon as you give your character a name. Its from this moment that you nod your head knowingly that this is indeed South Park.

You are on a quest to protect the stick of truth and keep it from the hands of the elves. Along the way you will meet meth addicts, aliens and more. Its hard to write a review without spoiling some of the great moments in the game that will put a smile on your face.

Beneath its crass, crude and faithful exterior is a surprising amount of depth in the gameplay itself. You have magic, ranged and melee attacks and find various bits of gear to equip. You have abilities that use PP while others like your fart attacks use mana. The game makes clever use of allowing you to time a counter and block incoming damage. One of my favorite abilities is kicking enemies in the nuts to stun them. Completing sidequests can also net you some powerful summons that you can use as well.

Having said that there is some replayability with multiple classes, multiple companions with interesting dialogue not to mention a choice half way through that will branch the story.

If your not a fan, this will go a long way to converting you definitly worth picking up when it goes on sale.

Just an aside for any other Australian's out there the censorship ubisoft went with (for some reason they submitted an already censored version for classifications, not even risking getting a "Not classified" responce) isn't to big an issue and the games developers slipped in little jokes about it. Two scenes are censored and can be easily viewed online (you're not missing anything vital)

The battle system is simple and boiks down to timing and basic tactics. What i did take issue with was the small scale of the battles. At this moment i have 2 buddies and can only use 1 in battle, which is kind of limiting. It may be so because they wanted to focus the story on the player character as he interacts with the universe, i don't know, i just found it limiting. Everything else is pure South Park gold. If you're a fan of South Park you know the type of humour to expect and The Stick of Truth is South Park at its absolute best, the writing is huge reason as to why it's so amazing. I have never laughed so much while playing a game, every time you thought it couldn't get funnier or more ludicrous it did, some of the stuff they have you do is beyond offensive and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Looking past what you'd expect from a South Park there's also a decent turn based RPG underneath, the combat felt great if not a little unbalanced and easy (I highly suggest playing on hardcore) but there were some really tough fights a long the way, surprisingly not the last one which I one shot, though. Overall the gameplay was solid and didn't hurt the game whatsoever but it could definitely be improved upon for the sequel. I honestly think even if you've never watched South Park you can fully enjoy this game, assuming you have a good sense of humour and aren't offended easily (or at all in some cases).

Whether you're a South Park fan or not I highly recommend this game as it's an absolute blast to play that will have you howling like a loon every 10 minutes!

The humour is more reminiscent of older South Park episodes, complete with a reference to each and every episode whether in loot, cameos or mentioned by characters in passing. Gross-out and shock value is strong here and the entire time you just feel like you are watching a 10 or so hour long episode of South Park, with all the laughs and quality you'd expect from Matt and Trey. Absolutely brilliant and a must-buy for any South Park fan (which let's be honest, is anyone with a sense of humour). . I would, if possible, get an UNCUT version of the game. There are two levels which are greatly affected by the censorship that ruined part of the experience for both myself and the friends I played with in Australia. Abortion and Anal Probing are much less disturbing than some of the things you see in this game and it just seems unfair and unnecessary. That being said, the scenes are available on YouTube and I would suggest watching them in conjunction with the game as you play. Regardless, game's perfect. Get it. 10/10

As a game it stands as a solid but very casual RPG. Instead of stripping all semblance of RPG out like modern games have done, Stick of Truth instead opts to simplify them and make them approachable. It is clear that Stick of Truth is no Baldur's Gate, but it never tries to be, sticking more closely to a the spirit of the kids' game: make believe kingdoms of humans and elves.

Definitely a must for South Park fans, and certainly not a bad game for weekend dungeon heroes who enjoy casual RPG experiences.

Though your party keeps growing and as you learn new attacks or spells the combat gets boring close to the end. The humour though is spot on and much better than the last episodes of the actual series. One of the few times a TV show turned into a great video game. I should give only 7 points because of the combat, but the game is just so much fun.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is an absolutely brilliant game, for many reasons. Trey Parker and Matt Stone have excellently translated South Park's style into video game format - this game is fun to play, yet at the same time hilarious in every possible way.

A large number of the characters that have ever appeared in the South Park TV show make an appearance in this game, even if some just appear in loading screens, and the dialogue has been carefully crafted to be absolutely hilarious every step of the way, not just for fans of the original series who might pick up on some of the references - even but for these references the dialogue is still hilarious enough on its own to be enjoyable for just about any player, be they a South park aficionado or someone who has never seen the show - Some of the references went right over my head, but it did not detract from the game's experience whatsoever.

This probably isn't the sort of game, however, for a hardcore gamer who looks for a deep and rich gaming experience - This may be an RPG, but it takes the piss out of its own genre more than it tries to emulate it, as such it's not the deepest experience gameplay-wise, however in spite of this it is still very much fun to play, because in all honesty it's clearly not supposed to be played as a serious RPG. It's meant to be played as a pisstake of the genre it belongs to, and in that sense it hits the nail right on the head.

Another thing that makes this game unique is the fact that, in making The Stick of Truth, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have essentially translated the South Park format directly into a video game, art style and all. It truly feels like you are playing out an episode of the series, which makes for a unique and interesting gameplay experience.

A word of warning however: In achieving the level of comedy that it does, the game is also very, very, VERY politically incorrect. Just like the original TV show, there is probably something in there that will offend everyone, from abortions to Nazis to sex - and if it doesn't offend you, it becomes absolutely hilarious.

To summarise, South Park: The Stick of Truth is an absolutely brilliant, game. The dialogue between characters will have you aching with laughter, the gameplay is easy but fun, and the fact that it looks almost exactly like an episode of South Park makes it all the better. True, it may not be the deepest RPG experience, or a very politically correct game, but that's because it isn't meant to be. What it is meant to be is a piss-take of the genre it belongs to and an immensely offensive yet side-splittingly hilarious satire- and just like the series it is based off, it does that very, very well.

Final score: 10/10. Most definitely worth your time and money.

There are still some issues and most of them are related to actual game mechanics. Main annoyance for me was the key combos and quick time events required to perform combat moves. As often is the case, these just don't work well on PC. After a while I mostly get used to them, but there were some I failed to do almost every time.

Some of the puzzles can also be a bit annoying. These basically require you to use correct abilities to correct hot spot. Especially early in the game when you don't know how all the abilities and hot spots work, you might get stuck for a while. The main problem here is that game doesn't always explain itself very well and you have to figure out yourself how many game mechanics work.

In the end, these issues are relatively minor and were out-weighted by all the great South Park stuff. The game length was ok. Maybe 15 hours or a bit less on average if you do most of the quests. Less if you just run through the main plot.

(The game references the show extensively. Even stuff that happened during early seasons. If you haven't watched the show I wouldn't recommend this game to you. Also if you're easily disgusted or offended, I'd play something else.)

Oh my god this has got to be one of my most favourite games ever.
Played through the main story line in two days, and I kind of wish that I had spaced it out more, but the time was well spent. The on going story becomes increasingly ridiculous and hilarious, exhilarating and exciting. What a little nine year old can do to save the town, and the stick of truth? I urge you to find out.

What's better is, everything that I can remember in all of South Park is in this game! All of the notable shops, characters, side gags, you name it. This game captures to sense of the telly programme perfectly, and is honestly worth the initial steep price of forty quid.

This game is hilarious. It's a good turn-based RPG, and was a lot of fun to play through. Only problem was the consistent need to use items. It's not that much of a problem, as healing items are cheap and easy to find.

Game wouldn't progress after I got grounded, and my last save was about 3 hours earlier. I don't even want to load it because I might just end up back at this same bug. This game is linear enough that the testers should've caught all the gamebreakers. Which is a shame because I got a lot of laughs from tSoT. My advice is to wait a year and buy it on the cheap. The combat engine works really well, you will have a range weapon, a melee weapon, some magics and habilities and some cunsumable items, a real complete combat for an RPG game.

The Graphics is 2D based, but they are beautiful and pretty similar of the original cartoon, witch gives you a nice sensation of immersion in the game.

The History is genial, so creative, the jokes sometimes is awkward and sometimes is pretty funny, so the game have a nice balance betwen the RPG history and the jokes of the original cartoon. It has a initiation, a middle and an end, also it has an objective, the chase of the Sitck of Truth.

The costumization of the game is one of the strongest points in South Park, you have a lot of possibilities, many classes, weapons, armors, a complete costumization for a good RPG game.

    - Weak points:

But the game can't just follow correctly the cartoon, the game have some weak points, if you go in some parts of the map you litearly can't get out of there, you need to die for some enemies to spawn in a diferent place, witch is really awkward.

You get confused in the missions, the game isn't organized at all, you have the main missions mixed with the sidemissions, and sometimes when you need to see the map for know where the missions is you get really confused.

VEREDICT: South Park The Stick of Truth is a great RPG Game, is a great reproduction of the original cartoon, it mixes perfectly the RPG story and the poop jokes of South Park. The level desing and the graphics is so well made that sometimes you don't know if you're playing South Park or watching South Park, the immersion is great. But as nothing is perfect, the game game some confusing aspects and some confusing places in the map. A perfect 9 game!

The gameplay is a turn-based rpg which will turn off some people, but I found it engaging and interesting. The characters are unbalanced, ranging from too overpowered (kyle) to useless (kenny). The character you control constantly changes his armor/equipment with armor patches, which keeps the combat interesting. I started off as a jew, but ended up being a 2 handed warrior by the end of the game.

A strong con I feel is that the game is short, took me 10 hours to to beat the game with most of the sidequests completed. Certain sidequests are great (mr hankey's marital problems, al gore) but most of them are the run of the mill kill, collect rpg questss. The main quest is hilarious though, and truly keeps you hooked until the end.

Bottom line, this is a game for fans of the show, or people who can appreciate the crazy humor that south park delivers. I wouldn't say it's worth 60 dollars though, and you should wait for that 20-30 dollar price range.

Mainly my biggest gripe is the saving. I willl save my spot in the game and it refuses to save right where I am at. I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with my computer, and I hope this is patched soon. If you try to save in an exact spot it will only let you save where you were at your last checkpoint. My roomate tried starting a new game and it does let you have multiple save files but even though i never saved over his file it will magically dissapear, so I think there is some issues technically with the saving system. I will say this is more of an issue if you are sharing the game with a friend or you wanted to create another character but keep your old game.

The fighting system has some minor snags. The time the "block" icon comes up and when you push the buttons on a hooked up controller, has delay so pretty much just block when something makes contact don't pay attention to the block icon. You just have the time things yourself which is fine but it's irritatiing to have the icon even in the game if you'll never pay attention to it.

I beat the game on normal difficulty but I highly suggest lowering the difficulty to casual for your first playthrough so you can just enjoy the story and have fun. It gets quite difficult at the very end and instead of laughing with the game I was kind of just glad it was over because of how frustrating the final boss is.

The story is the glowing part of this game. You will see many characters some you may have not thought about in a long time. I don't want to go too into it, but I will say it's an overall good story. I will be honest and say the ending is not as good as it could have been in a sense that I felt very little pay off for beating the final boss at the end of the main story. It wasn't awful, it was even decent but I think it could have been (should have been) way more over the top like the rest of the game was. A boss fight in the middle of the game is way more of a shocking and interesting moment then the last boss is. I think that's a flaw.

Anyways I'm glad I played the game and I don't want to come off the wrong way but I did have some issues with it that brought me out of the game. Again lower the difficulty on the first play. Overall I'd give technical parts of the game a 7 and the story an 8 so overall a 7.5 is fair I think. I'd also wait to buy it until it goes on sale unless you just have 60 dollars to drop like I did. Just saying :)

However, my beef is with the fact that at some point it became ok for game developers to charge $60 for a game with no replayability and can be completed in ~10 hours. Why and when did this become ok? I make a policy to average any game score I play with a Zero simply because of this.

I would rate this game a 8-9 with the only knock being that it's controls are a bit awkward and they don't allow them to be changed. But I cannot, not for 10 hours of gameplay at $60. So you get a 4 and Ubisoft gets another strike in my book.

1001 reference, the poo/fart jokes and the clever ones. Every significant South Park character is in there,
all the original voices, Cartman, Cartman, Cartman and Douchebag.

To top it all, we are not getting a **** FPS like on N64 but a great RPG instead. Which means they can actually make the 2D effect just like the episodes.

on the cons side, 12-15 hours for a full 60$ digital price is a bit high. I guess you can bank up to 30 hours on a 2nd play a year later. (Even if the game is amazing, I really don't feel like redoing all again, since there is no new game+, I just doesn't feel the need for a 2nd play right away.)

The highest difficulty is recommended for any regular gamer or anyone that ever touched a RPG. After 3-4 hours, you'll rarely feel like you are in danger.

But considering the game is in fact, a very well made game that any South Park fan is gonna love, I'm ready to put sand on the Balance (Hours vs $).

I had to go to the web to get instructions on how to finish out the poorly worded instructions in game to complete them. The inventory system is abysmal, especially the selling part. If Obsidian had fixed these 2 glaring issues, they'd have gotten a 10 from me.

Is it worth $60? Probably not. I found mine through GMG for $40, and it was totally worth it. Seamless adventure with tons of laughs. Best use of a license I've seen in a long time.

I've just finished the game, and it's the best game I've played in some time. But let's elaborate on that.

The first and most important thing to know is: if you have never watched the series, or you don't like it, there is not much for you there. sure, it is a very good game, but what glues everything together are the references, the classic jokes, and little details that can make a fan laugh out loud. (also, if you haven't watched south park for some time, at least watch the 15 and 16 seasons, as they give plenty of references for you to laugh a little harder).

Now, for the gameplay. Battles are turn-based, but almost every move you can use requires that you do something, like pressing a button at the correct time, or something like that. And don't be mistaken: you absolutely HAVE to be paying attention or you will most likely fail your attacks. Which is awesome, as it keeps battles more fast-paced.

Aside from battles, the game has some "adventure" moments, during which you have to solve little puzzles using you powers and objects from the world. These parts are also very cool, and lend a different tone to the game, which is awesome.

Now, for the plot... what can be said? I just don't know. I hadnt' felt this way since I watched the movie all those years ago, and it's the plot that made me play for 12 hours in a 2-day period, which is A LOT longer that I usually play any game. And 12 ours is without doing everything that can be done, and I'll start playing again tomorrow using another class.

So there you go. If you love south park, this is for you. Don't think, just play and fall in love with the game.
If you are neutral towards the series, and haven't really paid any attention to it, just watch seasons 15 and 16 (more if you can) and play it. It's awesome!
If you don't really like the series, there is really no point on playing, as this is basically a playable episode.

A very awesome, worth your money episode.

    Technical problems
mind numbingly retarded controls on fart tutorials and no sell all junk button makes this unplayable.
Never paying for an ubisoft game ever again.

It's a mediocre comedic game which relies entirely on the fact that the player is most likely a south park fan. Fans of the show will make use of it as a short term source of entertainment so that's why I gave it an average score.
I guess that everything from the actual south park universe is in the game and that will make up the mind of most fans. It also makes up the bulk of the game and to be honest that is fine by me.

Great graphics, looks amazing. Had a good time playing it. A little inmutare for my liking in some parts but hey that is the show I guess.

Completed in about 15/20 hours with most of side missions, except the collectible bulsh**.

I never crack on other people's opinions, but Game Guru can cram his. This game is amazing. Even though I am indeed a South Park fan, I would have no problem trashing this effort.....like that abomination of a cart-racer they came out with for PS1 many moons ago. "Stick Of Truth" is the real deal. Expand

For all its worth South Park the video game is a faithful recreation of what we wanted out of the game. The Town is nicely done and all the characters are faithfully recreated to what we remember of the TV series. Very Graphic and vulgar stuff especially in some part will put off people. Game is short for a RPG but this isn't really a RPG more so a South Park episode or more of the effect Season of it.

Please note this was done on PC on a mid range 3D card (7k series Radeon) and I-5 processor. Game ran great and no issues on frame rate or tearing occurred.

I bought the game on sale because I like rpg's, love Obsidian games, and because I'd heard it was funny. I'm not a Southpark devotee but appreciate how difficult it is to make a game truly funny. Cartman's quips are laugh-out-loud funny but much of the references are merely smile-worthy. It's not really an rpg, more like an rpg spoof. Inventory has no weight, etc. But that being said, I really was looking forward to leveling up each time so I could start using more powerful weapons and armor.

Overall, it's a fun 12 hour romp in the park for $10 but as I'm not really into Southpark, I wouldn't pay more for the game.

This is a great game. For an RPG, it is a bit short. Beating the game while doing some (but not all) of the sidequests presented to you will take about ten hours. Finishing up all the sidequests will probably be just 12-14 hours. But it is a very fun game and even after beating it, I want to play again with a different class. But it is a very fun game and even after beating it, I want to play again with a different class. There are four class options: Fighter, Thief, Mage, and Jew. The Jew class that I chose tends to benefit from being at low health. Their abilities grow much stronger as they get lower and lower in hit points.

The other characters you get to bring with you are very fun as well. Butters, Stan, Kyle, Princess Kenny (or Kyeennny if you incorrectly talk like Cartman), Cartman, and Jimmy can be on your team (just one of them at a time) to help you. There are certain points in the game where you must choose a certain buddy to perform a command to get past obstacles.

The game's flaws are few, but they are common flaws for PC versions of console games. The controls are poor at times. Some points in the game would have normally used an analog stick for your controller, but you are forced to use the A and D keys in a poor attempt at emulating the analog controller. Thus, some points in the game can be a bit frustrating as a PC user.

Another issue is that, during cutscenes, if you have ALT-TABBED during your most recent session of this game, your character will blink in and out from the scene. You have to close the game and open it again to fix this.

But despite those PC-only bugs, it is still a very enjoyable game. It is more fun if you enjoy South Park as a show, but even if you're not the biggest fan, the game is still good on its own. It's not a typical licensed product, which usually consists of a ripoff of a better game with sounds from the TV show (Simpsons Hit n run).

This game is amazing. Im 7 hours in, and those 7 hours flew by. The feel, characters, story its all done really well. It feels like the show, like youre a part of the show.

But whats more suprising is the RPG experience of it. This is the licenced game we all dreamt about as kids, done right. Must buy!

I didn't expect anything from this South Park RPG, but The Stick of Truth is one of the best license games ever made. It's as obnoxious as the TV series, as it should be. The script is made with love and the RPG elements fit in to the franchise like a glove. [March 2014]
