Time will tell whether or not Space Junkies can stand the test of time, ideally maturing into a game that can live up to the games it borrows from. As of right now, Space Junkies is at the very least, is a must try for owners of the PSVR headset.
Space Junkies delivers a simple, fun multiplayer VR shooter experience with nice controls and a good variety in terms of weapons and game modes. The problem is there's only a few people out there to play with.
Ubisoft delivers a barebones VR arena shooter set in space for 4 players. Although the technical execution is good, the lack of content and the disadvantage you have against PC players due to being limited to using the DualShock 4 controller only prevents it from being truly fun. Maybe in time this game will grow out to be the next Unreal tournament in VR but right now we cannot recommend this game, especially at the current price point.
The shooting is less responsive, because
Space Junkies doesn’t allow you to use
PS Move controllers. Instead, you aim by
pointing the DualShock – something that
can work in slower-paced VR shooters
like Resident Evil 7, but just isn’t suited to
frenetic head-to-head combat, especially
when the game’s crossplay links you up with
PC players using full motion controls. [Issue#162, p.82]
