85For those of you that like "eye candy," look elsewhere. For those that like to play a space sim with simple controls and just enough reality (aside from space ships that burn forever), then Star Shatter is for you.
-
If you reach for the stars you can fall short and still be head and shoulders above others. A proper tactical/strategic AI and improved capital ship combat (see Starfleet Command for a great example) would place the sequel into the "game of the year" or "space sim of the century" category. [Sept 2006]

74An efficient and well-designed galactic fighter. [March 2005, p.75]
-
70You may not have heard of Starshatter but if you're a space combat fan you really should have.
-
67Its control complexity, I'm sure, would appeal to those players who could give it the time to master and I'm also sure they would be rewarded with the effort. But unless you fall into this group you may find Starshatter quite difficult with a steep learning curve.
-
65For a one man project, Starshatter is a graphical tour-de-force. Infinitely customizable. Once the problem areas are tweaked, Starshatter will shine.
-
64Starshatter provides a welcome dose of innovation to a space sim genre that's been practically rendered extinct, but its originality ultimately fails to translate into a satisfying gameplay experience.
-
The game's lack of depth however is its downfall. The dumber you are, the longer you will be able to play this game. I don't say that to belittle intellectually-challenged gamers…..yes I do.
