  1. For the most part, it's a satisfying re-creation of the struggle that defined the 20th century. But because it lacks a challenging AI, it eventually falls apart as anything other than a multiplayer game.

World War 2 flavor strategic decision-making is the order of the day, and despite all of Strategic Command's quirks and flaws, the stew as a whole is quite tasty.
  3. If you're looking for some "war gaming lite" or are new to war games, Strategic Command's simple play mechanics and grand scale might make it an enjoyable diversion for you.
  4. SC may lack the luster of today's games that require a GB of space and the highest of everything for the ultimate gaming experience, but for a game that only requires 30 MB of space, it can be truly addictive.

It's an addictive little game for a while, but after you've beaten it a few times, you won't go back. [Nov 2002, p.129]

The interface is logical and easy to use. It has a decent AI, but I have never ever ever seen a really good AI (not including tic tac toe, checkers or chess). Write one yourself and you will see why. There are many nice features like leaders, unit experience, research, supply, fog of war, etc. This is a fun title that provides the right level of tension and satisfaction. There are many many workable strategies to victory. See why Russia wants Chechnya so badly. Needless to say, this title will remain on my harddrive for years to come. Full Review »
