Although it doesen't really warant a retail release, it could have been launched as a free patch or something similar, Extreme brings the old Stronghold Crusader game back in the show. I like Stronghold Crusader but this addon is nothing. Miserable work guys from Firefly ( or bosses who save money).

Stronghold Crusader is my favorite game and i highly recommend it yet... the "Extreme" version is pretty much the same thing but like playing "EVOLVES" on warcraft 3 and starcraft online. random outposts spawning random troops?!?!?!!?!? 3 letters... WTF anyway if you are a hardcore stronghold player who collects all of the games don't waste your money on this one. it feels like the Stronghold Crusader is my favorite game and i highly recommend it yet... the "Extreme" version is pretty much the same thing but like playing "EVOLVES" on warcraft 3 and starcraft online. random outposts spawning random troops?!?!?!!?!? 3 letters... Well, i loved the stronghold series, and was pleased when this one came out, after installing it, i played it - I was shocked, the graphics, were awful, stronghold 2 was much better than this, Firefly really need to fire those graphics producers. My opinion - Dont buy the game, its impossibly hard to complete missions, and its just battle battle battle, no twists or turns, no exploration Well, i loved the stronghold series, and was pleased when this one came out, after installing it, i played it - I was shocked, the graphics, were awful, stronghold 2 was much better than this, Firefly really need to fire those graphics producers. Dont buy it. Its not worth it. Expand

The least favourite of the Stronghold games in my opinion. The graphics did not improve to any great extent and the A.I is very harder that other A.L I have faced in the previous games but at least it is more challenging for your enjoyment. I am just upset that this feels more of a "patch" than an actually game due to the only changes of troop limit and A.L. I love the Stronghold series (save for Stronghold Legends), and Crusader Extreme is no exception. That said, I can't help but feel it could've been so much better.

What's good: vastly expanded sprite limits for huge desert battles. New game mechanics pumping troops onto the field faster, and special abilities to counter them. New maps. New computer characters. New set of Crusader Path

What's bad: No campaign. No castle builder. The improvements the game makes on Crusader are isolated to the string of missions in Extreme. Sure, new maps are cool, but this would've been much better if released as a patch/expansion, so that the improvements could be enjoyed in the original Crusader missions.

Other than the fact that you can wage 10,000-unit battles, don't expect much difference between Stronghold Crusader Extreme and the regular, nonextreme Stronghold Crusader.

This is such a strange package to review, because essentially it's a rerelease of a six-year old game with a smattering of new content that's designed for hardcore fans.
  3. Not only is Stronghold Crusader Extreme dated in terms of graphics and sound, but the interface is also slow and cumbersome.
