  1. The organization of the immense database allows both novices and experts to equally enjoy the challenge.
  2. It's an idea that has been tried before and done better.
  3. Events unfold inexplicably, unrealistically, and almost arbitrarily. [June 2002, p.69]
  4. A key problem may simply be that the international system is too hard to replicate under its current condition of relative anarchy.
  5. With the bugs fixed and the gameplay tweaked and polished, Superpower could be pretty decent. At the moment, it's disappointing.
  6. The game's lack of focus, poor design, and beta-like release state will put it not in the forefront of strategy discussion boards, but rather the back of discount software bins.
  7. SuperPower's most entertaining feature is this utter detachment from reality - despite its being touted as hyperrealistic. [July 2002, p.82]

I spent a lot of hours playing with the game....trying to figure out how to keep it from crashing all the time. It might have been fun if the game was actually functional....even with the patches the game is not functional and should have never been released. who ever is responsible for releasing it should be tried and hanged. Easily one of worst games ever made. I would ALSO like to sign up for the class action lawsuit.

Unrealistic---battle scenes are on a graphic equivelant with my first Atari game--control over conquered countries is very limited---an attack on any city in the world can be launched from any other city in the world, never mind that in real life an army in Beijing can't just fly to Los Angeles for a battle. The unrealism makes this game a waste of time. Full Review »
