  1. The only downsides to this game are the slightly unimaginative campaigns, and the oh-so-annoying voice-overs, which feature the worst "foreign" accents I've heard in a while. [Mar 2002, p.89]
  2. The detail is reminiscent of "Sudden Strike," but rendered in 3D. It's truly awesome.
  3. While the gameplay isn't quite as unusual as the premise, S.W.I.N.E. is a solid real-time strategy game with plenty of humor, all wrapped up in a beautiful shell.
  4. Control is simple though, and I’d have to say this might be a worthy diversion for a young gamer or perhaps a casual gamer, but a veteran gamer should seek elsewhere for that delicious, in-depth RTS fixin.
  5. If you can get past the painfully unfunny "humor," S.W.I.N.E. offers some solid fun for action-RTS fans. [Mar 2002, p.68]

S.W.I.N.E.'s visuals and parts of its audio are surprisingly good. On the other hand, the game has been promoted as "irreverent" and "hilarious," yet it's neither. The whole pig/rabbit schtik is weak and irrelevant, not irreverent.

While there's certainly a level of class and charm to go along with the laughs and lightheartedness in this war game, there's also more than a little helping of frustration.
  8. A funny but repetitive (and eventually tedious) real-time strategy game.
  9. Not only is the game easy and uninventive, but it also has few units, a poor AI, and happens to be one of the least stable games I played in a long time.
  10. Underneath the innovative touches and solid graphics lies a fundamentally unoriginal RTS with crap AI, boring missions and comedic value on par with Norman Tebbit in a clown costume.
  11. I don't think I've ever seen worse pathfinding in a game. [May 2002, p.75]
  12. To be fair, the humor is almost invisible when you're actually playing S.W.I.N.E., which is an entirely conventional real-time strategy game.
