  • Summary: Take Command: 2nd Manassas is "the most detailed Civil War game to date," according to Paradox Interactive, presenting nearly 50 scenarios with historically accurate maps, leaders and regiments as well as authentic flags that separate the different states. Play any leader on any battlefield of the 2nd Manassas campaign. You can play all main battles from both fronts with as much or as little detail as you like. Command combat from a third-person view, with full military control over your troops. Just like those who fought in the American Civil War, you will face difficulties in communication, uncertainty over enemy positions and numerous other factors affecting the outcome of each battle. What’s more, the scenarios are linked, meaning that the outcome of one battle will affect the next. In the end, there can only be one victor; you decide the outcome. [Paradox Interactive] Expand

  1. Innovative features together with realism and playability make it a must-have for American Civil War enthusiasts and recommendable to all tactical-scale wargamers. The lack of strategic elements is a bit disappointing, though. [Aug 2006, p.55]

A top quality Civil War military strategy game. Its brutal realism and tough tactics make it a must own for a strategy gamer who is getting sick of the same old fare being hawked out by other companies.
  3. This is one game that general real time strategy game fans will enjoy, be you a Civil War fan or not.
  4. A cumbersome and confusing affair. Order a full retreat. [June 2006, p.86]

Best Civil War game .. plain and simple. Its funny to read some of the reviews and obvious they have no idea what they are talking about. If you like historical accuracy over flashy graphics this is for you. The 3d engine does do a great job making you feel immersed into the environment.. more so considering the maps are 100% accurate. Really good game, realistic, historically accurate, graphics acceptable even if it's not the main issue in wargames. Challenging, need few games to be fully comfortable with the interface and the units managing (especially at high level of command : corps and army) , after that really rewarding. One of the best wargames I ever played. Put a 8 because you don't have multiplayer options within...and to keep a room for futher progress. Expand

The interface is atrocious! I still don't understand why my units don't move after I double click the ground I want them to move to. Ridiculous. Expand
