Aside from those minor complaints, The Adventures of Shuggy is a superb 2D platformer deserving of a much wider audience (the leaderboards paint a slightly depressing picture of the game's sales to date). Smudged Cat Games have created a game with heart, intelligence and a mansion-load of well-applied ideas.
Frustrating at times but on the whole a great game for individual or multiple players. It's definitely worth the low price of 800 Microsoft Points.
The Adventures of Shuggy is a cute platform puzzler that pushes the envelope with a deluge of gameplay ideas.
The controls are silky smooth, the visual style is adorable, and it doesn't involve shooting men in the face. All this for less than the price of a Spectrum game.
Despite not being totally original The Adventures of Shuggy combines a funny and intriguing style with some cool gameplay features, resulting in a game that deserve at least a try.
Quite spectacularly varied, though not necessarily all that inventive, The Adventures of Shuggy excels as a brain-teasing platformer almost in spite of its sadistic design. [Issue#75, p.100]
I did not enjoy my time with The Adventures of Shuggy. The platforming kept me from properly enjoying the puzzles, while the game tried to keep me from even seeing all the puzzles the game had to offer. It was more like work than any videogame should be, and egregiously overpriced work at that.
