As the Allies' top escape artist you must command your squad of POWs to break through the walls and wreak havoc on the soft underbelly of the Reich. You will command four unique soldiers, each with their own skills, strengths, and stories through their capture, escape, and vengeance in the heart of the evil Nazi empire. Use advanced espionage skills in stealth missions, a wide variety of weapons in combat sorties, and a huge array of authentic vehicles in your fight for freedom. Superstar Steve McQueen is digitally resurrected for the fistfights, shootouts, and vehicular mayhem of this WWII classic. You are the new mastermind in this saga of indomitable spirit and daring heroism, can you pull off The Great Escape? [Gotham Games] Expand

  1. The Great Escape is an enjoyable, thrilling and suspenseful accompaniment to the classic film.
  2. Retains the feeling of the film, and should be worth a look if you are a hardcore Steve McQueen fan or a fan of the movie looking for some nostalgia. However, the gameplay doesn’t have enough going for it to warrant a purchase from someone hoping for a deep stealth action title.
  3. This game should really be called "The Rather Mediocre Escape." [Nov 2003, p.116]
  4. The game's biggest annoyance - the finite nuber of saves allowed during each mission. [Nov 2003, p.140]

i can only imagine that magazine reviewers don't have the time to devote to a game, to pick out one which really draws you back, time and time again. the difficulty level is perfect, not too tough to make you give up, but tough enough to make you think: how can i solve this. It's kept me absorbed for weeks. wonderful Expand

I don't know about you guys but I really liked this game,it's really fun and scary, the On The Run! level is the scariest when the goons are shooting, but it was Big-X who ran in the streets in the movie. Expand

Poeple don't like the amount of stealth and think there should be more weapons. I have a different opinion.

If you're after a decent WW2 stealth game set in a POW camp, get 'Prisoner of War' instead.
