The excellent presentation and style is marred by the sixteen character password system and occasional level design flaws.
The game's play control and animation are a little rough, but overall, it provides lots of action and thrills. [Jan 2003, p.174]
Rarely rises above the level of a typical side-scrolling combat title.
The graphics are generic, but the audio presentation is quite nice. The GBA has a large library of average side-scrolling action games, and Revenge of Shinobi is just a slight notch above them.
Isn't a complete disaster, but it's undoubtedly the worst outing in the franchise's history. Its unresponsive controls and shallow gameplay are what holds it back from seeing its true potential.
The game quickly becomes boring and has you wishing you were doing something else.

Summary After being reduced to rubble by Joe Musashi, the crime syndicate Zeed has made a vengeful return as Neo Zeed. Upon re-establishing their mighty crime empire, they assassinated Musashis teacher, and kidnapped Naoko, Musashis fiancee. Joe Musashi has sworn revenge and set out for the heart of Neo Zeed.
