83It strikes the perfect balance of adding new material without taking away from the overall game, and it doesn't feel like a completely different path but rather a cool new take on some of the basic mechanics.

How to describe the new add-on to the endless Sims 2 series in one sentence? Rental housing at its best. You will love the beautiful architecture and you will be surprised at how much fun, magic can bring into the normal lives of the ordinary sims. [Sept 2008]

If you played and liked most or all of the previous seven expansions for The Sims 2, you’ll probably like Apartment Life just fine.
-
77A solid expansion. It doesn't completely reinvent the style of gameplay you're used to, but it does make enough interesting tweaks and additions to warrant a look.
-
77A new sound! Instead of annoying Sims-music you can listen to songs from Katy Perry or Good Charlotte.
-
74Despite being the eighth expansion pack for The Sims 2, Apartment Life has really interesting features. Nice gameplay additions and the possibilty of creating apartment buildings are among it´s strongest virtues. But warning! Just for fans.
-
72This is more entertaining than Free Time and the apartment roommate element spices it up a touch.
-
The life of the sims and their careers become even simpler to manage, hard as it might be to imagine, with the addition of new instant friend-making combos and... magic. That’s the farewell gift from the team - next expansion is inevitably expected somewhere in 2009, but for "The Sims 3."
-
65If you consider the apartment idea and the witches addition a good investment, than by all means play Apartment Life. Otherwise, you'd be better learning a spell to speed up time until "The Sims 3."

60In this latest expansion to EA:s virtual life simulator your Sims will experience life in an apartment. Having neighbours is practical for your everyday needs and earning your reputation adds an interesting flavor to the formula. You can also merge several computer controlled families with your own, but these additions still feel too meager for what you're paying. EA could definitely have done more with this package, but what is in here you'll find enjoyable.
