  • Summary: The Wolf Among Us is a 5-episode series from the creators of The Walking Dead. Based on Fables (DC Comics/Vertigo), an award-winning comic book series, it is an often violent, mature and hard-boiled thriller where the characters and creatures of myth, lore and legend are real and exist in our world. As Bigby Wolf - THE big bad wolf in human form - you discover that the brutal, bloody murder of a Fable is just a taste of things to come, in a game series where your every decision can have enormous consequences. Your choices matter: it’s not only WHAT you choose to do that will affect how your story plays out, but WHEN you choose to do it. A mature and gritty take on characters from fairy tales, legends and folklore who have escaped into our world. These are not the characters you’d see on a little child’s lunchbox. Play as Bigby Wolf: formerly the most feared monster among the Fables, now Sheriff of Fabletown and protector of those he used to hunt. He must restrain the beast within if he is to earn the trust of those around him. Choose Bigby’s actions carefully. Will you approach a situation calmly or unleash your inner rage? The way you act will determine how others respond to you. Set before the events seen in the first issue of the comics – you don’t have to know the characters or the world to play. An amazing introduction to the Fables setting, the first episode of The Wolf Among Us absorbs you fully into the character of Bigby Wolf through excellent writing and forcing the player to make engaging choices.

It achieves everything one could ask from a pilot and on the strength of its setup, Telltale have room to execute what’s looking to be yet another genre defining adventure.

Clocking in at around two hours, this is the best looking, best playing and most polished game that Telltale has created to date and while it’s a bit lacking in the idea that each choice has great weight and meaning behind them, it’s still a fantastic title and a truly promising beginning for what might become Telltale’s greatest work yet.

A very good start. This is no pretty fairy tale, but a gruesome thriller with a fantastic parallel world New York as a background, where you meet characters from Snow White to Grendel.

Cityscapes are cloaked in deep purple haze and long shadows, and droning minor-scale chords heave and sigh, suffocating you with their smoky nuances. No matter how this story unfolds, it's hard to imagine a happy ending clearing away the pervading darkness.

Every frame is stunningly composed, the voice actors as fitting as they are talented. On PC, even the tech has come a long way since The Walking Dead, which helps to get totally wrapped-up in this extraordinary murder mystery. This close to the release of Beyond: Two Souls, there's also something to be said about characters that are believable and relatable, without having to bank on star power and performance capture.

As only the first of five episodes, it is difficult to tell how the series will play out and evolve from here. However, The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1 - Faith makes a fantastic first impression and has us eagerly awaiting the next chapter of Bigby's story.

Just amazing...! Couldnt put it down from start to finish... I wasn't so sure about using fables but its clear they have created something so original. Walking dead was awesome but if the rest of the episodes are like this then Wolf among us will be better! BUT WHY DO THEY HAVE TO DO EPISODES!!! I want the whole story NOW! Expand

If you liked the amazing writing, magnificent characters and meaningful decisions of The Walking Dead, you won't be disappointed here. The Wolf Among Us sports a fresh roaster of instantly relatable characters in a colorful and stylistically brilliant graphical environment, both taken from and inspired by the Fables comic book series (which you don't need to know to enjoy the wonderfully written story). The voice acting is once again fabulous and varied, each new character offers a convincing, interesting background. Situations as well as decision making never got stale or felt unimportant. I encountered neither technical hiccups (the PC version being the definite one performance wise) nor any bugs. I finished the episode in about 2 hours, leaving me satisfied, yet wanting more. Still, you can replay it at least once, just to see what difference your decisions make in terms of story development. For fans of fantastic storytelling in video games, or a great experience in general, this is an easy buy. Expand

This is a pretty brilliant premise, I'm surprised we haven't seen this before. Playing a game episode by episode like a TV show. I saw the trailer and knew I had to check this out, and I was not disappointed. Even though the story is similar to 'Once Upon a Time' it is quite a bit grittier and edgier, it is unique enough that they are clearly doing their own thing here. I thoroughly enjoyed Episode 1 and am looking forward to more. Expand

Telltale has proven, once again, that it's capable of crafting amazing games out of equally amazing licenses. "The Wolf Among Us" is shaping up to become yet another home run for the team, as it proves how well the world and it's characters can be transformed into a video game in the hands of incredibly capable individuals. It isn't "The Walking Dead", but neither should it. There are several similarities when it comes to gameplay, but both the story and the setting itself differ greatly from the tone of Kirkman's work. As something more of a mystery/detective type of game it instantly feels refreshing and different. The artwork and visuals are fantastic, especially if you're a fan of the comics, since they have an even more striking resemblance to the source material than TWD did (mostly because those comics are in black and white, of course). When it comes to story, "The Wolf..." delivers an interesting plot with several twists and turns with a side order of choice and consequence. Characters are well fleshed out, for a 1st episode, and are all done justice by providing them both solid voice actors and great dialogue. Even Bigby himself sounds like the sarcastic badass he is. Oh, and the soundtrack. Yes, the soundtrack. It's great. Ready for the next episode! Expand

A sad title that unfortunately goes under the false pretense that It is a video game when In fact, by English definitions, It's clearly an interactive video. Much like It's excessively-bragged about predecssor, the smelly dead. People who want story, go back to reading the comics. People who want video-games, go find something else to play. Expand
