Three Fourths Home is not for everyone. But it is an experience that, as short as it may be, is worthwhile to play. Through the options it presents you and it’s wonderful aesthetic, Three Fourths Home is a game that I would recommend to anyone who wants to try something new.

A great example of interactive fiction, beautifully written, with interesting themes and some pretty evocative graphics.

There is a real velocity to Three Fourths Home. It sneaks up on you, quietly at first, before suddenly becoming overwhelming. Its closest analogs aren't other games, but works like John Darnielle's novel Wolf in White Van or the haunting music of lo-fi artist Mount Eerie--art that rumbles and groans and then springs into action.

Three Fourths Home is an excellent experimentation in narrative. It's story delivers strong emotions with a meaning, but it's interaction is as brilliant as superfluous.

In spite of its problems, Three Fourths Home still showcases some pretty sharp dialogue and storytelling. And if nothing else, it will make you think twice about how you conduct yourself the next time you’re on the phone with your mom.

If story and interactive fiction interest you, and if you like musing on regret and memory and family, you’ll find something to like in Three Fourths Home.

Three Fourths Home's story is amazing, but it is difficult to mark this title as a videogame.

It's storming, and you are driving your car through the Nebraska landscape on the way home while having a conversation on the cell phone w/ your parents and brother (conversation in text on the screen). As you drive through the storm you get to know the family's problems and perhaps identify w/ a young adult who's trying to strike out in life for the first time. Note, this is not a game as much as it is a multimedia presentation w/ a few user interface controls. It's a good story, the art design is nice, and the visuals and sounds create a nice atmosphere, but there's not a lot beyond that. If this story appeals to you go for it, but understand there's not really gameplay as much as reading the story and watching how the visuals interact w/ the story that's happening. It's targeted to a specific audience. I was curious about the title, and thought it was well done, but at the same time it won't leave me thinking about it after I've seen it. Overall a mixed review, but again if you're curious about it it's a good experience for what it is. Expand
