“Thrusty Ship” is a criminally underappreciated (as of this review) gem ****, brought to us by a single person indie development team “In Principle Games”. This is a game of technique, mechanical execution, and resource management. You maneuver 15 different ships through 72 levels all masterfully crafted with the meticulous attention to detail of an old-fashioned horologist (watch/clock maker). I cannot overstate how clever this title is from the very basics of the gameplay that you learn within the first 5 levels, to the extremely intense and advanced mechanics that you require to perfect the hardest stages in the game. On top of all the brilliant stage designs, and ship designs, the developer has even added a very robust and well-designed level editor that (with a properly motivated community) would provide a plethora of additional content for anyone that enjoys the game.
This game is well worth a look at. It’s a great example of a solo developer project that has more attention to detail than larger development teams. There is a demo available on the steam store page. Do yourself a favor and try it at least. It is using the same graphics that were available in the vanilla release, but the gameplay is 100% authentic to the experience. If you like what you play in the demo, you will get more out of the rest of the game… Much more.
To me personally, this game is worth the full price, though I fully understand folks waiting for sales. If it does go on sale, this is worth the money. Watch videos, play the demo, get some exposure with this title. Its challenging, it’s fun, and it’s worth the investment of time to at least have a look at this title.
Very fun, very difficult game! A friend and I have recently sunk around 30 hours into Thrusty Ship and will easily be putting in more than that in the future cause we're hooked. So far, my favorite thing about the game is trying to get the the best time I can on the leaderboard for each level and trying to figure out what ship would be best to tackle each challenge the game presents. I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes difficult but fair games like Super Meat Boy and Celeste. Games that, when you fail, you think, "Yeah, that was my fault. I can do better!"
Well polished, well made puzzle game. Give it a try if you like challenges!
I love puzzle games so I'd give this full marks if it weren't for one thing;
it's only on PC for now (gave 2 marks down for that)
Thrusty Ship is honestly a great well crafted game. With a lot of passion and love put into it, it has even manged me ,a person who isn't a big fan of this type of game, to enjoy it for the time that i played it. Even though i stopped playing it , i still recommend the game to everyone since i only stopped playing it due to a personal taste not that the game ran out of content. I've seen plenty people get stuck playing this game.
SummaryPilot your Thrusty Ship in space. Fight gravity, collect Cores and smash a bunch of space junk, but watch your fuel! In Thrusty Ship, the only enemy is yourself.
