What's a barbarian to do? Captured by crazed cultists, tied to a tree, and abandoned for buzzard chow, our pixelatd protagonist is ready for revenge! Sword & Sorcery! Might & Muscle! Are you Tiny enough for this Barbarian-sized adventure?

Tiny Barbarian DX is an action-packed sword 'em up inspired by fantasy pulp fiction. Like those short stories, the game is split into four distinct episodes, each with a new setting, new enemies, and new music!

Tiny Barbarian dx is highly playable but short retro hack'em up. More, please! [Feb 2014]

Tiny Barbarian DX is outrageously “old style”, not just in its graphics but in its design and gameplay too. Extremely simple yet fairly challenging, it brings back fond memories of playing games like Rygar and Rastan – but if you haven't played those old classics back in the day (or are immune to the nostalgia effect), then there isn't much on offer for you here.

It's unadorned, then, but the game's so wonderfully unselfconscious in its aims that it creates the perfect atmosphere in which to enjoy its simple charms.

It is a straightforward action platformer with very tight controls. The game opens with you fighting off a horde of monsters on top of a mountain until you are overwhelmed, and then introduces you to the main menu. I really enjoy the Conan theme, although it is really a mash of all sorts of high fantasy barbarian themes. I halfway expect to meet Boo along the way. The boss fights start out a little standard and predictable, and after beating the game I can definitely say they are challenging but not too frustrating.

I am a bit disappointed there isn't co-op, but I'm glad I didn't overlook this game. If you are a fan of weird/high fantasy and enjoy the challenge of a well designed platformer, I highly recommend this game.
