Oct 16, 20132 for the effort of the previous versions, like super elevation and shaders upgrade.
0 for the current one. Because it has been years since the first release of Train Simulator(Rail Simulator, then Railworks Don't confuse with Microsoft Train Simulator or MSTS released in 2001 ish) and we still don't have bugs fixed on the most basic things.
1 for The best DLC released to date are for Train Simulator: Isle of Wight and London to Brighton. But only Isle of Wight was done properly and included everything needed. London to Brighton misses the most common rollingstocks, but at least the general feel of the route is there.
- No TrackIR support(community made plugin is not supported in this version and it doesn't work, author has yet to crack the new code to implement it)
- No multimonitor support
- No Gauge export
- No data export(Speed, Rpm, Fuel, Air pressure and etc)
- No complex gauge programing
The AI is attorcious, having a timetable or trying to replicate one from real life will not work. Because of pathing and signalling issues, you might even get booted out of the game because 2 AI trains collided.
Scenarios doesn't work for most DLC(Those released 5 months before the TS2014 upgrade) and countless bugs on them. A few minor but huge bugs on DLC's released from 2 months to a few days or after each major upgrade(like 2014 and Great Eastern Main Line).
The price per DLC is very expensive for what they offer, $40 for a route that has the most important parts missing, and only 1 rolling stock that may not even represent most of the trains used on that route. That is, the rolling stock or train will have half of its features missing, from cab lights, to proper gauge use, to information needed to drive the train. Some display N/A blatantly on the screen, others just a picture of an OS.
The simulation aspect is also lacking, the physics for wheel slip, to temperature, to engine management, to anything else is missing.
Sounds: A train carrying tons of cargo or passengers, made of steel, aluminium or wagons made of wood, you would expect to sound loud and not be quieter than a household cat walking around!
PS: CAreful with missing DLC's, or DLC's that they suddenly decided to release a V2.0 with a minor upgrade and splitting the already made skins(or part of the bundle before the 2.0 version which was cheaper) and selling each one of them separately for $20.
So, unless they put their heads together and sort these issues, I can not recommend this "game to anyone.… Full Review »
Sep 28, 2013Exactly the same game. The only noticable thing they've added is XP, but even it does not work properly. Also some officail scenarios are crashing after 2013->2014 update, and all achievments you've earned were removed. I'm really pissed off by the nonsense they've done.… Full Review »
