May 15, 2012TR was simply innovating. It didn't try to implement regular RTS elements, where Starcraft is the king. Instead, TR had new ideas that reached far behind its time, and are still actual today:
++ Global war map! You fight for a sector. You spend globally gathered resources to research technologies.
++ Unique unit equipment. Each has a limited ammo, special weapons, and abilities. You can find ammo creates, grenades, new weapons in crates spread on a level.
++ Unit ranking and experience. Level-3 soldier with a good weapon could be a dangerous army by itself.
++ Unit design. You create your own unique-looking and functioning units by putting weapons, chassis, armor, and various equipment onto base units. You can use them in combat right away. A dinosaur with mounted minigun anyone?
++ Many races. I get angry when I see an RTS with only 2 opposing sides. This one has 6 at least.
-- Implementation quality is poor, unfortunately. It could really benefit from a nicely polished re-make.… Full Review »
