For those of you new to the series Warlords Battlecry III has a lot to offer that you won’t find in any other RTS title, and if you like RTS games, there’s a lot to like here. A traditional RPG fan will find lots to love too with the hero driven game play.
The depth of races and units in Warlords Battlecry 3 is enough to fill three other lesser RTS games.
It cannot quite compete with the likes of SpellForce: The Order of Dawn, but as a reasonably enjoyable title to fill the void of gaming insomnia, it does merit mild recommendation.
Of course, the game improves enough on the past titles in the series that it will appeal primarily to existing fans and they certainly won’t be disappointed.
Warlords Battlecry III is devoid of gimmicks and posturing but offers up good, old fashioned, SOLID, strategy gameplay – which to many is how it should be!
Flawed as it is, the sheer replay value of all the races and classes makes Battlecry III a good value at the bargain game price of $29.99.
The game's tagline speaks volumes; calling Battlecry III "The original role-playing strategy game" is a fine way of declaring the game's legacy, but at the same time it highlights just how little has really changed since the first title was released. [Aug 2004, p.108]
