Arguably one of the best Zoo games ever made, far superior to its sequels, this game manages to produce a more realistic zoo simulation than Zoo Tycoon, the model T of this genera. The clever use of ground harness rather than arbitrary biomes is admirable, while the cloning of extinct animals is done in a much cleverer way than any other game. The attention to detail is astonishing, with resources coming in and rubbish going out. Another way this game scores above the others is the realistic behaviour of guests, who do not freak out when a peafowl is not in its enclosure. The gameplay is smart, with a range of missions that are not simply "build a zoo", and instead can range from chasing Yetis around the Himalayas, to creating an ecosystem with Horses, Wolves, Tigers and Snow hares.

This is the little Zoo game that could, and it is a shame that so few people have ever heard of it

  1. This theme has been tried before with Microsoft's Zoo Tycoon, so what will Wildlife Park have to differentiate it from the rest of the field? Well, as it turns out, a more natural look and.....not much else, really.
  2. If the subject matter sounds intriguing, then "Zoo Tycoon" is a much better bet, especially since you can get it all bundled together now for a cheap price.
  3. Since the game gives more than a passing glance at animal satisfaction, this game could have been much better if it built upon that better. This one just didn't hold my interest.
