  1. Sure, it has some substance - Omaha and two other poker types supporting the main Texas Hold 'Em - plus multiplay that can be set up over a LAN mixing real and AI players. But its obnoxious personality makes it the fish of the group. [Apr 2005, p.65]
  2. Overall, it’s the AI problem that really mars World Poker Championship.
  3. If the developer was out to break the game of poker, then it succeeded masterfully... The last thing on Earth any poker player should do is pick up a copy of World Poker Championship.
  4. The main problem with WPC is that it's a piece of $#!+. Not only can you read the AI like a teleprompter but there's no online play should you (and believe me you will) crave some human interaction.
  5. If you're going to have a game that lets you bet in excess of thousands of dollars, it might be an idea to have a system that lets you type in the amount of the bet, rather than forcing you to click a hundred f***ing times to get anywhere near the high numbers. You know, just a suggestion. [PC Zone]

Everyone is trying to capitalize on the Texas Hold 'Em craze. Some games are winners and others are losers. This game is a big loser. Everyone is trying to capitalize on the Texas Hold 'Em craze. Some games are winners and others are losers. This game is a big loser. The gameplay is terrible. For each hand, the view jumps from character to character as they complete their action for the given hand. This only serves to slow down the pace of the game. In other words, instead of finishing off 5 to 10 hands in a couple minutes, you may only complete a couple hands (depending on how involved you become in the particular hand). The computer opponents who seem to be very involved in a hand suddenly lose interest or decide to go completely aggressive. This creates an AI that is completely off-the-wall. Given a small amount of time, you will have no problems reading the AI and making adjustments in order to beat the AI. In my honest opinion, you are better off sticking to a game like DD Hold 'Em Poker or Poker Academy. Gameplay in both can be edited in order to suit your particular interests and the AI provides the challenge you might be seeking to improve your overall poker game. As far as this game is concerned, save your money for the next time you gather around a poker table with a bunch of friends. Expand
