  • Summary: It's World War II, and from France to Germany, prepare to destroy the opposition and help free Europe from Nazi rule as you take command of a Sherman tank in General Patton’s Fourth Armored Division, Patton's best and most elite division. Cut off the enemy at the Brittany Peninsula, escort Allied convoys, and smash Nazi forces across the Moselle. Rescue hostages, relieve the besieged 101st Airborne at Bastogne, cross the Rhine, and drive German forces out of France. [Got Game Entertainment] Expand

  1. For 20 bucks or so it’s not too terrible for the money. This will most likely appeal to younger players or those who want to jump in and play without spending time thumbing through an extensive manual.
  2. With the absence of a multiplayer, WW2 Tank Commander has very little replay value. There’s just not enough interesting gameplay to warrant the budget £20 price tag. Still, if you enjoy tank games or WWII in general, you may find something here.
  3. You get what you pay for, though, and for a $20 title, WWII TC delivers a modicum of modest, albeit fleeting, big-gun thrills. [May 2006, p.54]
  4. It’s a novel enough concept in a setting that has produced many enjoyable shooters, but it just doesn’t deliver much excitement. Even if you stick with the game through its relatively short campaign, there’s no real motivation to play through it a second time.
  5. While finishing the campaign might do justice to the exploits of American armored divisions in WWII (you beat all the Germans in the end), this game as a whole doesn’t do any justice to the role of armor.
  6. An experienced gamer would find this under-stimulating and be able to blow through it in a matter of hours. I've certainly spend more money, in less time, on worse things, but it doesn't take an accounting genius to tell me that I've got to stop wasting my money on games like this.
  7. Imagine a WWII tank game with lots of pyrotechnics and hearty sound, with fancy graphics of destroyable terrain and tens of friendly and enemy tanks blasting away at one another. This isn't that game. [May 2006, p.51]
