  1. Despite finding quite a few things that proved substantially irritating at different moments, the battle-heavy action does indeed scratch an itch.
  2. For about half an hour, the game is able to entertain you with a sexy protagonist and lots of enemies to chop, but that’s it. For most of the gamers this game is far too pubertal to enjoy.
  3. A scantily clad woman with two blades and lots and lots of monsters, that sounds like an entertaining game, but turns out to be a laborious task. It's fun for one hour or so. But once you realize that there is nothing more to the game than fighting huge amounts of monsters in similar looking areas, it becomes annoyingly repetitive.
  4. X-Blades may prove a pleasant enough distraction for hack-and-slash gamers thirsty for something new. Repetitive gameplay and bland design keep it from becoming anything outstandingly great.
  5. The primitive combat system and monotonous level design are reason enough to dislike this mediocre action game. And yet, there is more: The character design is disputable, to say the least, and the cut-scenes fail to support the almost non-existent storyline. Unless you are crazy for non-stop action in a solid presentation, this game is one you should avoid.
  6. Despite a lead character that isn't the most likeable we've come across and some pretty repetitive gameplay, X-Blades still manages to be decent fun.

Everything about X-Blades is mediocre. It works for what it is, and there’s some charm to the action and the characters, but the gameplay design is lacking in ingenuity; a notion that is perpetuated the longer you play.
  8. X-Blades has nothing exciting to offer, although it is hardly a shoddy game. The interface is comfortable; the music is full of pep. Sometimes it’s fun to run into a crowd of stupid lizards and hack them all to pieces. Alas, thirty minutes of boring click-fest and humdrum bloodbath on each level will war down anyone.
  9. X-blades doesn’t succeed in delivering a rich offer. The gameplay is repetitive, and platforming doesn’t play out well. The long fights are usually boring, and the plethora of upgrades and different kinds of magic is not enough to make it fun. Add a terrible A.I., and what you get is a title that won’t be fun for anyone but hack’n’slash die-hard fans.
  10. Summing up, it is possible that X-Blade: Postmortem won't be able to fit in the market because of its flaws. It will entertain those who are not familiar with this genre, but they will end finding it repetitive. The more seasoned in this sort of titles will find it directly boring. Nor the developers contribute with innovation neither the game achieves in creating an atmosphere which allows the player to get involved in the story.
  11. While it's certainly a pretty game, there's just nothing special to it. Throughout forty boring levels all you will get is wild button mashing which results not only in Ayumi’s death most of the time but probably that of some of your brain cells as well.
  12. Just a few attack moves in a fighting game - that does not bode well. Sometimes a thing or two flashes in the chaos of the combat and draws our attention, but in the end this tired Devil May Cry imitation gives out the moan of a loser crushed by superior contenders. [Apr 2009]
  13. A bland action game with several problems like terrible targeting system, lack of variety on enemies and movements, a very simple animation system and poor graphics. Having a good looking main character can't save a lacking title like this one.
  14. The explosions and spells look lovely, but the game itself is drudgery. [June 2009, p.89]
  15. X-Blades starts like a real great game. There’s a girl and she cuts everyone open with her sword. How much can you get? Not much! As a bonus, we get to see an almost naked girl, carrying way too heavy swords. But even this gets boring after a while. Fight after fight where you have to push one button isn’t fun. Even all the nakedness of the game doesn’t cover that fact up.
  16. 20
We can only recommend this to people who are interested in quitting videogames completely.
  17. There's really no reason you'd want to play this, unless you like looking at the pert buttocks of a young girl while clicking the mouse button a thousand times a minute. [June 2009, p.74]

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. Fun sure but quickly accelerates from 0 to 100km in about a couple hours, don't be fooled by its RPG level up aspect because you level up FAST later and replay value? Maybe one more round but no more. All in all pretty game, nice combat alright for a time waster but not worth more than 10 bucks. As a cheap filler game id give it a 6 or so but i bought it new at 50.....soooooo Full Review »
