  • Summary: The President of the United States of America has been assassinated. You wake up on a desolate strip of New England beach. The near-fatal impact of a bullet has left your head pounding, and your memory erased. What's more, the number "XIII" has been mysteriously tattooed on your chest, while your pocket holds a key to a New York City bank box. Head swimming in amnesia, you struggle to your feet only to encounter more assailants intent on finishing the job. To your shock, you handle the hitmen with the killing skills of a professional - before heading to the bank in search of any shred of information about your lost identity and your involvement in the President's murder. What lies ahead is a deadly quest not only into your shadowy past, but America's darkest corridors of power. [Ubi Soft] Expand

From the incredible visual presentation to the frenetic action to the jaw-dropping effects and pulse-pounding music, XIII is where it's at.
  2. XIII is rounded out by a tantalizing multiplayer component. [Feb 2004, p.62]
  3. Is XIII worth your money? I guess it is, if you're patient enough and willing to overlook certain gameplay failings in favor of a good thriller story and plenty of style. Just make sure to cover your ears or take off your headphones whenever David Duchovny is about to say something.
  4. Seeing the game from beginning to end reveals its true artistic merit: it never gets stale; every episode has been drawn with minute care and attention. It would have been an incredible achievement if the gameplay had matched the outstanding art direction. [Dec 2003, p.94]

Excellent game.It has only one - and that is saving , because you will always get game saved on last checkpoint.Everything else is for 10+ except graphic which is for 8.5 in my opinion . Nothing more to say because the score shows everything else Expand

Such a outstanding storyline outweighs the shabby graphics and game engine and, for me, makes this a classic. However people must not forget the graphics are like that since this is based on a comic book series. I really enjoyed playing this game and am a little gutted there is no sequel :(. Definitely worth the buy. Expand

Would've been an 8 easily if it didn't suffer from (typical) console-itis. By this I mean, as many others mentioned, the complete lack of a useful quicksave function. I can't remember how many times I had to repeat tedious trial-and-error sneaking levels simply because the next guard 'round the corner spotted me. On one occasion an alarm was sounded by a guard who wasn't even anywhere near my line of sight! Frustration should not overshadow fun in a game; players should not constantly be penalized for a single misstep. (I really do loathe games where you have to sneak around most of the time anyway, unless they have working quicksaves/quickloads, or you can at least blast them with some silenced weapon). The tragedy is this is something that could have easily been fixed by a short afternoon of coding had they cared enough to put forth the effort. And that's pretty much the impression I get playing this game: lack of effort. Expand

Interesting style. Crapy save system. What is the point of a quick save system when it always brings you back to the last save point. Graphics are mediocre. Below average polygon count detail. Textures are bland. Performance is good. Expand
