  1. For Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, the meager options make it less attractive than one of Konami's dozen or so other, more fully featured Yu-Gi-Oh! games, and to players who don't already have an investment in the series, it has about as much to offer as a game of solitaire.
  2. Veteran players will probably tire of it after a couple of days since you can’t really do anything with changing out cards or making decks until after a long period of winning, and playing against what seems like the same cards over and over again may get dull.
  3. Simply missing too many features to justify the purchase. Collectible-card-game fans should opt for "Magic: The Gathering Online" instead, so they can face truly challenging opponents: other human players. [Apr 2004, p.83]
  4. With the addition of any type of multiplayer Yu-Gi-Oh! would have been a solid competitor to other CCG videogames on the market. As it stands, it's merely a satisfying and addictive upgrade to Solitaire. [June 2004, p.81]
