  1. It is possible to lose track of the hours spent tending to your zoo. In our view, this is the base measure of a successful strategy game.
  2. A very nice expansion pack. It gives you enough new things to do that even if you played Zoo Tycoon 2 a lot when it came out, you’ll now have an excuse to play it some more.
  3. As with most expansion packs, Endangered Species breaths fresh life into a title that may have gotten stale on your hard drive. Fans of the original game will enjoy the newly expanded library of animals and objects when updating their zoos.
  4. There simply is no comparison between the Endangered Species expansion pack and any other product that claims to be an expansion. Zooty fans should pick this up immediately.
  5. Endangered species, elevated paths, tours, and more of everything pretty much sums up this expansion.
  6. Easy to get into and not overly complicated.

Don’t look to the expansion to add anything new to the game that will get you very excited unless you’re completely in dire need of more animals.

There are some good additions, but stuff that I would have expected to be added on top of a different major theme. I guess when it comes to zoos, it's a little harder to find new topics for great expansions.
  9. If you enjoy squandering time away on the original title, you're bound to find more joy and excitement from the additional animals and buildings included in this expansion.
  10. This expansion does not add enough to the game to make it recommendable to those who are no already diehard fans of Zoo Tycoon 2.

Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species adds a lot of items but not enough to the game itself. However, it's a good option for those fascinated by exotic animals and/or loved the original concept.
  12. PC Gamer
Delivers the bare minimum for an expansion pack. [Jan 2005, p.71]

If you spent weeks building the perfect parks, unlocking new content, and wandering around as a guest [in the original], you'll get a little more mileage out of this expansion, but even then, you might find it a little skimpy.
  14. Computer Games Magazine
Worth a family session or two. [Feb 2006, p.66]
  15. It’s a CD that adds about 20 endangered animals to your existing game of Zoo Tycoon 2, and that’s about it.

I wasn't so sure if this game was going to add things I was interested in. But I loved Zoo 2, so I gave it a shot. And... wow! If you I wasn't so sure if this game was going to add things I was interested in. But I loved Zoo 2, so I gave it a shot. And... wow! If you liked the orginal game, this one is a must-have. The new animals are great (I think that the developer is getting better at creating them), the new transportation elements look *awesome*, and add new gameplay. The new scenarios are really fun and challenging. This is a surefire 10, and definitely worth the price of admission. Did I say that the graphics look alot better than the original? Full Review »
