This game is pretty, has decent voice-acting, and an okay soundtrack. Other than that, I don't have much good to say. It's insanely difficult, with twitchy context-sensitive controls that make little sense. There is rarely any sense of direction or purpose, and you often find yourself in a room with no idea what you are doing, how exactly you got there, and what you are supposed This game is pretty, has decent voice-acting, and an okay soundtrack. I honestly wish I could go back in time and never, ever consider paying full price (or any price) for this game. Expand

Just rubbish. The game is based on trial and error, you'll die with no indication, so you got to sit through the fmv sequences all over again, and theres no way to skip them. ARRGGHH. The camera is very twitchy, therefore control of your character is awful. Just Rubbish.

AITD is a well built action game with a tv drama/horror climax, the graphics are good but not the best on the ps2, the music and voices are great. One thing that annoys me is that enemies are kinda stupid and Sarah has some strange hair.

This game is not perfect,However it's a pretty good game for those who never played a Horror-Survival game in they're life! The two version's are both great(Wii/Ps2 and 360/Ps3/Pc) Good gameplay, nice storyline(understandable),Graphics are pretty good(not the best ever seen, but still good) One thing could've been done better- It could've been more scary. 1. Flawed, scruffy and inconsistent, but the small moments of magic [do] some way make up for the lack of overall polish. [July 2008, p.64]
  2. An ambitious and in ways progressive survival horror game, whose ambition is hampered by its own numerous flaws. Whether these problems are a result of porting a current-gen title to a last-gen console remains to be seen, but the PS2 edition is very clearly a stripped down version of the impressive 360 game Atari have been displaying.
  3. Alone in the Dark proves that with a little time and patience, a good game can be created from innovative ideas.
