[Online play] makes a superior multiplayer game even better.
  2. More of the same, though with marginally better packaging and the addition of online play.
  3. It's simply more levels and an online mode, neither of which are earth-shattering.
  4. The gameplay truly is a work of art, and now that it has depth on its side, ATV is nothing short of a force to be reckoned with. [Jan 2003, p.92]

Doesn't change much of the [original's] formula, or the graphics, or anything really, but it does offer online play, some different courses, and some fun multiplayer party games.
  6. 100
A rock ‘n’ rollin’, wrist-snapping slug of adrenaline on four-wheels that challenges you at every turn.
  7. It never really crosses the threshold to thrilling gameplay and an absent replay doesn't help, but it does kick up a lot of dirt and will leave racing fans satisfied.
  8. A solid offroad experience. With an improved graphical presentation, solid controls and good soundtrack, ATV Offroad Fury 2 is a worthy successor to the ATV crown.

The inclusion of online racing and the frenetic pace of the races will leave players with a dirt-eating grin.
  10. Sadly for fans (and myself), it's pretty much the same game that was released last year. [Jan 2003, p.85]
  11. There are a ton of extras to open up and a load of different modes to play, adding a lot of replay value that the original lacked. [Feb 2003, p.135]
  12. It is one of the best “extreme” racing titles on the system, and online play gives the game tremendous replay value.
  13. If you didn’t like the first ATV Offroad Fury, this game probably won’t make a believer out of you, as it’s virtually the same as the first one.
  14. Though we're a long way from skateboard half-pipes here, the developers have provided atmosphere and attitude to rival one of the great modern console series.
  15. The most bizarre of the games is ATV Hockey, but surprisingly it is a lot of fun to play.
  16. The physics engine wraps the package up nicely, so much so, that watching five bikes leap like frogs across the countryside becomes very mesmerizing.
  17. These new features add plenty of replay value. [Jan 2003, p.120]
  18. A game with more tracks, modes, and polish than the first, but still very similar under the hood. [Jan 2003, p.32]
  19. The charm of being original is worn off leaving us with more of the same. ATV Offroad 2 is enjoyable but not really much of a change.

It is easy to pick up and play, the controls are tight, and there is plenty to do and the online mode works well for those of you looking to do a little online racing. You couldn't ask for much more out of any one game.
  21. If online play is the pure reason you are buying this game, you may be seriously disappointed. The online racing can be very fun, but without any incentives there eventually gets to be no point to it.
  22. You get tight gameplay, flawless control, addictive mini games, and fun, competitive racing. Too bad about the online aspect though.
  23. Takes everything positive about the last game and improves in just about every area except for the sound... The online play is phenomenal.
  24. The competition is as intense as you want it to be (which on the higher difficulties can be damn near impossible). It has good music, good graphics, and lots of diversions if the main focus drags.
  25. There are only three words to describe most of the game’s controls, which are simple, precise and responsive. The games controls are just perfect and are some of the best I have played with in any racing title out on any console.

Quick arcade ATV racer. Can only imagine playing this again if i was drunk and making fun of it with friends. The soundtrack is very annoying.Quick arcade ATV racer. Can only imagine playing this again if i was drunk and making fun of it with friends. The soundtrack is very annoying. The loading screens are horribly long. When you get hurt there's a noise indication but you can't tell who actually got hurt. There should be a better tutorial or a better explanation of how to hold speed going over jumps . Full Review »
