Yes, Barbarian is about as barbaric as the name implies. However, after renting the game and strapping on my nylon gloves, i was ready for battle. After repeatedly playing through and through the missions only to reveal that a dirty-looking Golem as the leader of this Barbaric and unsanitary game, I could not help but play it over and over again. I was not satisfied. I never am. Not even Yes, Barbarian is about as barbaric as the name implies. However, after renting the game and strapping on my nylon gloves, i was ready for battle. So please, take my advice- the game smells about as bad as a Barbarian's ass-crack, and no, we don't want to pay $50 to smell an asscrack now do we? Expand

If Sapphire put as much emphasis on the combat as they did on conjuring gritty stories to back each fighter, Barbarian could have been a lot better. [July 2002, p.115]

A repetitive game with pretty graphics that fails to inspire much of anything.
  3. Indistinct characters, painfully hokey storytelling, poor AI, and a shallow combat system add up to a disappointing experience.
