  • Summary: Born from the unnatural union of vampire and human, BloodRayne is blessed with the powers of a vampire but cursed with the unquenchable thirst for blood and a weakness to sunlight. BloodRayne 2 challenges the supernatural anti-heroine with her most personal battle yet as she hunts down each of her wicked siblings who are carrying on the legacy of their dead father, Kagan. They have created "The Shroud," a mysterious substance which, when released, renders the sun?s lethal rays harmless to vampires. Now only BloodRayne stands between an unsuspecting humanity and a horrifying vampire dawn. Expanding upon the distinctive features that were the hallmark of its predecessor ? fast-paced acrobatic combat and supernatural powers ? BloodRayne 2 includes new in-game dynamics such as pole combat, rail sliding and advanced melee fighting with fatality moves. Built upon a modified version of the Infernal Engine, BloodRayne 2 introduces threatening new bosses, all new environments set within a huge modern day city, a range of new supernatural powers and new motion-captured movements complete with soft-body physics. 1. Out of nowhere, BloodRayne 2 ranks among PS2's best hack-n-slash titles. [Dec 2004, p.124]
  2. My one bit of constructive criticism is to suggest that the developer have the team that worked on the CG stuff do all the movies for the next game while they concentrate fully on making Rayne’s next adventure even more of a kick ass gaming experience.
  3. While this sequel does succeed in proving Rayne is more than a pretty face, a few more tweaks are needed before her playtime prowess matches her dark mystique. [Nov 2004, p.147]
  4. As great as it is to be sliding down a banister firing off both guns before holding out your blades to slice into two anyone unlucky enough to be standing near the bottom as you pass, the sloppy controls and quirks in the design do prevent BR2 from being anything more than a reasonably-decent third-person action-slasher.
  5. Had a lot of potential but didn't do enough with it. They focused a little too much on Rayne's abilities and not enough on trying to make the game more difficult, and more challenging.
  6. Sex and violence are the stars, but clever, well-delivered dialogue carries an entertaining vampire apocalypse plot well above current game standards. [Holiday 2004, p.106]

It feels like a one-night brainstorming session came up with a whole bunch of random ideas thrown in a pot and clumsily stirred. There might be a good game in here somewhere, but it needs to cook a lot longer.

One of my favorite games. It's fun to go back and play it every now and then for the over the top gore and fun combos. I guess I have a crush on Rayne also lol. Expand

this is my absolute favourite game EVER(except for possible games from the future) nice and bloody with kick ass combos(some of the combos are so cool and "hidden" that they are almost like killing with a broken easter egg shell!) I recomend this game for people who live in thier video games but not too stupid to try to copy it on real people(who are these assholes who copy video games and end up with a couple of moronic parents (no no, not the victums parents) sewing (yes yes my spelling is shitty) a video game company because they were far too busy to wear a condom or get an abortion so they end up with a kid that they don't even bother to be around and put the fucking TV in their place, hell, these unplanned parents don't even bother to check the fucking ratings of video games and even if they do, they wouldn't even know not to buy thier kid the game cause they're hardley even around to know how fucking stupid their accident is cause they're way too busy off making for accidents!) oops sorry, that rant came out of no where...that's been happening way too much lately! Anywho, if you're not increadibly stupid than this game is esspecially good for getting rid of the real rage through satisfying that blood lust, and even if you're not angrey it's still fun(and you'll probably sooner or later get angry by simply playing the game due to the plott line (especially that Kagan dick head... His name should be Richard! :D(aren't I original?!) (spoken with sarcasm (well duh))) <--three...thingies!!! :D Expand

I bought this game the minute I saw it on the shelves. I really didn't know a part 2 was released. Everything about this game is great, grapics, sound, bonus movies, the secret pass codes, her outfits...ect...But If I had one complaint, If would be the fact That I miss her super close-up vision thats she aquires in B1. Shooting targets at close range, while still far away was cool. Looking foward for BR3..and 4. Expand

From one who once thought the GTA series were the best ps2 games of all time, Bloodrayne2 blows them away. Watching her feed is so erotic! But there's so much more to this game than that. Expand

The game is fun and the graphics are much better than the first game, but Bloodrayne 2 could be more enjoyable if the levels and enemies were more varied. A game that features vampires should include more outdoor nightime levels. Too much of the game is played inside. The gameplay is acceptable. Rayne's movement and appearance has improved and controlling her is much easier. If Majesco decides to make Bloodrayne 3 (and I think it will judging by the ending) a more interesting level design should be considered. Expand

I find this game to be a lot of fun. Gore and sexuality through the roof, and blood, blood, blood, blood, blood. The combat is more refined than it was in the first one and the graphics are a huge step in the right direction. The cheat codes spice things up, and this is just a fun hack-n-slash title to pick up and play every now and again. It's campy, it's gory, it's sexy, and it's very enjoyable. Expand
