80Do the front lines give you the shakes? Then skip the "let's go boys!" bravado, settle into a more comfortable overhead viewpoint, and orchestrate 40 missions that include famous battles like D-Day and Operation Market Garden. [Aug 2004, p.90]
-
80The graphics are refreshingly crisp and clear, while the battlefield sound effects are spot on, incorporating a medley of explosions, machinegun fire and desperate battle cries.
-
Combat Elite makes an ideal rental title, three days being a good length of time to gauge whether you can tolerate quite so many invisible walls and German soldiers shooting you from nowhere.
-
60A decent game hampered by a bad camera and frustrating design choices. [Sept 2004, p.24]
-
60Controls are decent in concept but poor in execution. [Sept 2004, p.92]
-
60Nice graphics and solid sound, but the general gameplay and linear nature of the game make this a mindless, linear run-and-gun experience.
-
55With a redesigned targeting system, more advanced controls (duck and shoot should not be the extent of it), a tweaked camera and a campaign with story and character to ferry players from beginning to end, Combat Elite could have been fantastic. But that's just wishful thinking.
-
54Unfortunately, the game ends up feeling pretty shallow, with an odd control mechanism and camera angle, as well as a light RPG system that doesn't seem all that balanced.
-
The only snag: You spend most of Combat Elite shooting at offscreen Germans, placing you at a natural and frustrating disadvantage. [Sept 2004, p.100]
-
46The graphics aren't going to wow you either with less then impressive textures, animations, and just plain graphical quality. The audio follows suit with scripted voice acting and a lack of sound effects that would make WWII come to life.
-
Everything in this title borders on barely functional, from the blurry graphics (no, that isn't Vaseline on your TV screen) to the imprecise targeting. [Aug 2004, p.96]
-
It has the most idiotic aiming scheme in any WWII game.

JasonM.9This game is a fantastic WW2 game. Perfect for the begining gamer but to easy for the advanced. Since I am begining in this genre I give it a 9.
