  • Summary: Based on the DC Comics/Vertigo "Hellblazer" graphic novels and the Warner Bros. film, the supernatural thriller Constantine tells the story of John Constantine, a man who has literally been to hell and back. When he teams up with sceptical policewoman Angela Dodson to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldly events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost. [Warner Bros.] Expand

  1. A bit too dark (as in "no light"), linear and uninventive. It is also strangely entertaining. [Mar. 05]
  2. 70
Once you get a few levels into the game, you start to see the purpose and role of each weapon, and Constantine encourages you to think strategically about how to take down enemies.
  3. The unique abilities of Constantine and scary atmosphere that Bits has established will make your mouth water, but you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who can tolerate the shoddy gameplay. [Apr 2005, p.120]
  4. 60
Spell casting is a nice twist but overall this is your usual movie tie-in.
  5. The problem here is simple laziness. Constantine is a dull, monotonous shooter with few redeeming features, do yourself a favour and buy some of the superb graphic novels instead.
  6. If not for the weak animation, I would say that Constantine looks surprisingly good. Instead, its static appearance cheapens the overall look of the game.
  7. The enemies you fight are the definition of repetitive. They are the same type of demon you see in the movie except in seven or eight very subtle variations.
