Although the game is able to provide players with a diverse array of gameplay modes and even some surprisingly heavy platforming elements, they all eventually wear thin. Even so, the game's cohesive sense of humor keeps the game entertaining.
  2. The racing isn't exactly the star of the show, but Crash Tag Team Racing's supplemental elements pull the whole thing together into a unique and mostly enjoyable experience.
  3. Mini-games are a blast! I think I ended up playing them more than the actual racing.

While the racing is good rather than great, see it as just part of the game's charm and CTR makes for a fun family treasure box. [Apr 2006, p.100]
  5. It's very easy to win races, even on the Hard difficulty setting, the platforming sections offer no real challenge, and the fun to be had from blowing up opponents when you've clashed your kart wears thin after a while.
  6. Admittedly broken down into its individual aspects Crash Tag Team Racing comes up a little short, however the overall game gels the pieces together to create an entertaining experience for young and old alike.
  7. There is definitely a lot to do between the different modes of play, and the cartoony element of the whole game is always entertaining.

Shoddy camera in amusement park mode, lots of cliched gameplay. [Dec 2005, p.101]

While the cars could use a greater sense of mass, it's smooth racing with a decent framerate even when things on the track get hairy (and this is when they're most fun).

A competent, highly stylized romp through a fading franchise that's appealing to the younger set, not really hip enough for the teen crowd, and not in-depth enough for veteran gamers.
  11. A sprawling adventure that offers plenty, but delivers it in a strangely disjointed format that makes it less than the sum of its many parts. [PSW]

The game’s casual, do-what-you-want approach makes it a safe bet for anyone who’s looking for a few hours of rude racing fun.
  13. While it is honorable that it at least attempts to make an interesting piece of a game, with platforming and racing mixed together and a nifty clashing element thrown in, the core gameplay just isn't strong enough to really make this terribly memorable.
  14. Compared to all of the other racers out there--kart, arcade, or simulation--it's definately at the bottom of the list.

This is hardly a racing game, but it somewhat makes up for it in the extra stuff. Like this is 45% a racing game, and 55% other stuff. I doThis is hardly a racing game, but it somewhat makes up for it in the extra stuff. Like this is 45% a racing game, and 55% other stuff. I do like going around messing with other characters and just messing around in general, but the other stuff isn't really all that fun. The races can be too easy and somehow just feels more like a straight path rather than a challenging race. It does have some funny humor...and I mean SOME, not very much. It sort of has that Crash Twinsanity feel to it when it comes to humor. It's a fun game that could've been better. Full Review »

Tag Team Racing doesn't offer a lot to separate it from other racing titles. The controls are a little loose at times, the tracks are unmemorable and the actual racing aspect of the game is uninteresting, rather, the focus is more on the weapons, fusing, etc. These aspects are good, and help make the game pretty exciting, but it leaves the races feeling repetitive, and no real skill or experience is required to continually win races. The adventure sections are alright, they aren't great, but they aren't bad. The game itself is relatively fun and crazy, however. Full Review »
