  1. D1 as a budget title is practically a joke, but as a premium title, this game is too ridiculous for words.
  2. The hardest and most unforgiving racing game known to man, it's not even all that enjoyable for a hardcore drift racing fan. The annoying announcers are just icing on this horrible cake.
  3. The promise of a decent drift game is there, but a shoddy interface, loose controls, glitchy gameplay, and impossibly steep learning curve prevent D1 from racing to the finish line.
  4. Drift racing is supposed to be fast-paced and exciting and it's neither of those things in D1 Grand Prix, a lifeless and frustrating PS2 racing game.

One of the most frustrating games we've played in quite some time. The driving and scoring models are simply unforgiving at best and broken at worst. Unless you want numerous reasons to throw your controller through your television, avoid this at all costs.
  6. Realistic drift physics apparently don't equal a good time, especially when added to a frustrating - and mandatory - tutorial mode. [Sept 2006, p.76]
  7. In Grand Prix, the wild-card of bad design proves too difficult to surmount. That lack of consistency, coupled with grading criteria set in the real-world instead of the game's flawed reality, leaves me with no choice but to deem this game unworthy.
