Take the game for what it is: An arcade style shoot-'em-up with a B-movie plot, gameplay intensified by use of slow motion, and two unique additions to the third person action game that warrant considerable heed. As can be inferred from trailers &c, the police dog Shadow can be used effectively and, in Extreme settings, must be relied upon. The difficulty curve of this game is fair.
Dead to Rights II has the most fine tuned mechanics amongst any third person shooter on the PS2 of which it can be considered contemporary and simultaneous peers- here is a quick tip to get well at the game:
You see a group of enemies below: Use up your adrenaline that puts you in slow-motion and taking down baddies with the Berettas - as soon as your Adrenaline runs out- melee closest enemy for a refill of adrenaline or human shield.
What makes the game a constant classic is the character of Jack Slate, voiced by Steven Blum- Blum, most accredited for his role as Spike Spiegal in Cowboy Bebop, comes across effective with his one-liners that are catchy and act to enmesh the player.
Soundtrack is stellar, fireworks and explosions very moving;, levels albeit repetitive have to do with the fact that each level is part of one larger mission that takes place in the same building - backtracking - and
all in all, given the immense replay value given if the player becomes enmeshed, Dead to Rights II is a Keeper.

JohnO.Apr 1, 2006This game isn't very oringal. The gun play is really fun at times, but it shouldn't take a full round to kill an enemy, especially with the limited adreneline. The first one was much better as it featured more variety (protecting the girl by shooting through three floors of a highrise, chasing a sereis of limos with a helicopter, and actually unlocking doors was what made the first one so good). too bad the developers rushed this one out.… Full Review »
