  1. There isn't much wrong with Downhill Domination other then the fact that the source material doesn't make for a great video game in terms of length or replay value.
  2. There's just not enough attitude to elevate the standard gameplay above average and after the style and sheen of "SSX3" and "THUG" this looks second rate.

It's disappointing to find that a game so reliant upon riding earthy mounds, avoiding rocks and leaping chasms leaves the player feeling disassociated from the environments. For all the sensory feedback you could as well be controlling a futuristic hoverboard. [Oct 2003, p.102]
  4. Throw in a clutch of two-player options and you've got an entertaining offline game that will satisfy many.

One of the fastest, most insane combat-racing games ever devised... If the tracks were a little bit less ambitious or the trick system streamlined for human hands, DD would easily be one of the best games of its type. [Aug 2003, p.78]
  6. So it’s not the most challenging of games, nor does it extend the downhill racer genre much. Despite this, it’s mostly a pleasant diversion.

Another major complaint I have about the control that bears mentioning is that the machinations one must go through to flip or spin are extremely annoying at best.
  8. It's this sense of bike duty and absurd self-imposed goofiness (the game has a sunny and lighthearted side to complement its brutish exterior) that ultimately make this game the perfect '7.'
  9. An efficient training mode allows you to take to the trails with confidence, though you might find the crash course more entertaining.

It's the first BMX game for the console, and the best out of them. One of the only complaints I have about this game is that hitting X repeatedly to sprint on the BMX nearly ruined the button. Sprinting hurts your thumb as well. But, there are a slew of careers, riders, tracks, and overall, fun. Full Review »
