More than once we snapped back from a gaming haze, wondering why we were still playing.
  2. 40
Besides some nice CG work in the occasional cinematic, this is just a tepid return to mediocre series filled with potential never realized.
  3. I see no reason to purchase and play a mediocre amalgamation with no exceptional qualities to recommend it, though I guess I shouldn't be surprised because nearly every game employing dragons as anything but enemies ends up stinking.
  4. Sadly Drakengard 2 is a crushing disappointment, even to those that managed to tolerate the first instalment.
  5. The CG sequences are fairly impressive, but this isn't enough to save Drakengard 2 from extinction. [Mar 2006, p.94]
  6. It’s such an exercise in drear that only a masochist would get any pleasure out of it, and even they’d have to ignore the hackneyed sub-Uwe Boll narrative. [Apr 2006, p.107]
  7. Drakengard 2 picks up where its predecessor left off, warts and all. [Apr 2006, p.63]
  8. Drakengard 2, instead of improving on the original, nullified the weapons system, replaced an interesting hero with an unoriginal cookie-cutter protagonist, and managed to make what should have been a fun game - Dynasty Warriors mixed with Panzer Dragoon Orta - tedious and boring.

An ok game. Much like the first with a few improvements. However, the music is not quite as good as in the first. I preferred the whole chaotic style of the originals. Still a good game though. Full Review »

Once again, it looks like fans of the series are blinded by their feelings for it. I myself loved the first one and thought the second addition was very enjoyable. However, it's far from the perfect 10 many of my fellow reviewers have given it. Like the first one, Drakengard suffers from terribly repetitive gameplay and sloppy game mechanics. Unlike the first one, it doesn't offer the same out of your mind story elements that made the first one so unusally enjoyable. Overall, this game is a re-hash of the first one with too few improvements and one very noticeable downgrade. Full Review »

First one was wicked but second one improved everything that needed improving.......player involvement, gameplay, speed, movement, n a blossoming romance for good measure! one of those marmite games..........you either love it hate it. I have quite high standards for games n this met them and more. Near perfection. Full Review »
