  1. It’s an addiction, a very good one at that, where you can make up to 2,999 new friends for just 9.95 a month. A MMORPG that set its own standard on the PC world has indeed set another one on the console world.
  2. You can make friends and enemies. You can head off a new quest, or perhaps join a guild. It's never the same game twice. [Feb 2003, p.95]
  3. Finding friends is painless, and making them on EQOA is half the fun. It's the community aspect of EQOA that sets it apart from other games of the genre, and other online titles as well.
  4. There is plenty to see and do here so do yourself the favor and buy this game . . . just don’t skip too many work days, okay?

Provides a great, online fantasy-gaming experience, albeit one that's not quite as grueling, unforgiving, or complex over the long haul.
  6. Get a keyboard for your PS2 or don't bother playing. However, with a keyboard, this is EverQuest, the PC phenom, in all its addictive glory. [Feb 2003, p.80]
  7. 80
Taking the core idea of "EverQuest," the developers streamlined it and simplified things to make it easily accessible, yet just as addicting as the original game.
  8. If you enjoy hacking a lot of monsters and are willing to put the time into the game that it demands, you'll probably have a good time with EverQuest Online Adventures.
  9. 80
If you’re an RPG fan with tons of free time and patience, or if you’re an EQ fan dying to see what Norrath was like hundreds of years ago, EQOA is a great time.
  10. Though there are certainly better options to be found on the PC platform, PS2 owners who can stomach the repetitive combat (not to mention the $9.95 monthly fee), have an extra USB keyboard and a healthy chunk of free time laying around, and want a solidly designed introduction to the MMORPG craze could do worse than to give Evercracka spin.
  11. Many will find the game dynamics too slow, the missions too tedious, and the combat dull. All this wrapped up in mediocre graphics and sound. So, in a sense what we have is an MMORPG that is made for fans of MMORPG's, and not for many others.
  12. The interface is simple and easy to learn, and thanks to a few good decisions on laying out the controller, you won’t get lost in a haze of menus.

Good, but not the revolution its PC sibling was. [Mar 2003, p.44]
  14. Those who've played MMORPGs in the past may appreciate the relative simplicity and relative fast pace of EverQuest Online Adventures, but those who have never played a game like this before may just find it boring, confusing, and overly repetitive.
  15. The game has huge potential, but unfortunately most of it is unrealized at launch. [Apr 2003, p.30]
  16. Commendable, lacking only in more targeting controls and somewhat dull first impressions. Its gameplay quality will depend greatly on a large enough supply of well-mannered group members.
  17. It's when you stand back and think about the tacky, clunky graphics and the intrinsically repugnant battle system that you realize what's wrong here - and what another MMORPG needs to do right. [Mar 2003, p.118]
  18. 60
The game can at times be a repetitive, dreary experience in any case. Ostensibly distilled down to lure console gamers, EverQuest Online Adventures is less about lofty quests than about repeated bouts of monster-hunting, loot-grabbing, and leveling up.
  19. "Everquest Lite." It's not a bad game and I give it credit for being the first true console MMORPG, but it gets boring to play since you can only go forward.
  20. Rarely more than mildly diverting at best. From the first moment, the game left me feeling decidely underwhelmed. [Mar 2003, p.110]
  21. Fortunately for our loved ones, the urge to boot up a PS2 to waste entire months role-playing as an Orc who sells pomegranates or a Warrior who slays stray cats won’t be nearly so compelling thanks to graphics that often look like flattened dragon dung.

This game is one of the absolute best games. I have not played the PC version, so I have no right to say anything about that. But the ps2 version, is a wonderful game, yes very addicting, and that is good in someways, yet bad in others. This game is definitely worth my time. Full Review »

As a master of a guild in this game I must say this is one of the greatest games I have played on the PS2. I have met mutiple friends and made multiple enemies at the same time. You can go on quests on your own or group up with friends or complete strangers and make friends. If there is 1 game in the world out there that i would have to pay to play this would be the one for me. Full Review »

I really have to address this first. To the Jacan guy. Who the hell do you think you are to judge anything? You can't even spell. "absolutes," "Reccomond," "wone" (what the hell were you thinking on that one? Probably "Well, I have no idea which one to use, I'll use both at the same time."), "bies," "in less" (don't you mean 'unless' retard), "your" (I can understand how a third grader could mess that up). Who would listen to such a pathetic loser who cannot even spell? You sound like you know exactly what you're talking about. (That was sarcasm, like your mom sounds when she says you are the best thing that has ever happened to her). The game is awesome. The graphics are decent, but it's no Final Fantasy X. The gameplay and human interaction is amazing. Quests are much easier to obtain and there are lots of classes and races etc. to choose from. I give it an eight out of ten. P.S. Jacan, you are stupid. Don't ever dumb up any other websites with your witless banter again. You make Teletubbies look intelligent. -Guardian Full Review »
