  1. While it may look a bit strange to move your body frantically in front of the TV screen, especially if you're playing by yourself, the EyeToy offers family-friendly fun and a little exercise, too.
  2. 100
Whether you’re a hyperactive kid, an inebriated adult, or just someone who doesn’t have any hangups about looking a little goofy to have a good time, the EyeToy will make you smile for the camera.
  3. The whole idea itself was not only neat, but it was amazingly well executed and is not only fun ... but extremely addicting as well.
  4. Not only did Eye Toy get my wife to play a video game but more importantly it got me off the couch and into the action.
  5. If you must know why I fancy this one so much, it's because you're a giant on the screen and it looks like you have sole control over the cosmos. I dig it. [Oct 2003, p.123]
  6. There is absolutely no reason why this product should be entertaining, much less insanely addictive - but, goodness is it ever.
  7. EyeToy feeds the average person's vanity by projecting themselves onto the television. As just about every reality show on the air proves, being on television remains an important status symbol in our culture.
  8. It's the simplicity of it that works; that's what will undoubtedly make this thing the ultimate party toy. [Nov 2003, p.146]
  9. The most innovative and original add-on device that has hit home consoles in years. The technology implemented to capture your image and detect motion is surprisingly refined considering this is the first version of the unit.
  10. A great party toy and novelty, but not enough depth for long-term single-player gaming.
  11. If you have friends round and they aren’t scared of a little jumping around then this is definitely a game you want to get. If there’s alcohol involved, all the better!
  12. The end results may be somewhat shallow for most serious gamers' liking, but it's a quirky, fun, amusing, and heart-warming addition to the PS2.
  13. Single-player is great fun, but there is no depth to keep you hooked; the most fun comes from getting other people involved and so multi-player is where EyeToy becomes really special.
  14. "A refreshing blast of gaming oxygen," is how I would describe Sony's new game EyeToy. It's a bit of a novelty to be sure, but it's going to pave the way to the future of how we interact with videogames.
  15. The one thing that I loved was the boxing game. Fighting a robot and kicking the snot out of it was just totally fun. I was laughing and just having a great time during the bout. I don’t know, maybe I am a total cheese ball.
  16. 80
It certainly isn’t a perfect peripheral, since the unit needs ample lighting in order to work well, but it does provide countless hours of entertainment.
  17. The perfect gift for the gamer that has everything except say, a spouse or relative who doesn’t quite understand the lure of gaming, or a parent looking to interact a bit more with their kids.
  18. EyeToy: Play doesn’t have complex graphics, nor will any of the sound effects or songs blow you away. Despite the fact that the games are simple, they almost all manage to be fun to play alone, or with a group of people.
  19. Given how entertaining it is in short bursts, it’s the perfect thing to bring out at parties or get-togethers, making this one of the easiest ways to rally the whole family around one of the hardest possible family-wide activities: playing video games.
  20. 75
As simple as these games sound, you'll likely break a sweat trying to wipe the screen clean in "Wishi Washi" or keep up with the Samba de Amigo-esque "Beat Freak."
  21. It’s great for kids and non-serious gamers and a fun party favor, but those of you with a taste for the finer things in gaming life will be let down by the largely disappointing games. It will make your mom and your girlfriend happy, though, and to us, that’s priceless.
  22. Taken by themselves, the 12 minigames and other features of EyeToy:Play are fun diversions, but they get old kind of quickly. However, if you have a group of friends, gamer or non-gamer, it makes an ideal party game. [Nov 2003, p.92]
  23. As is the case with most party games, EyeToy is simplistic at best, but the way you play the game truly makes it a one-of-a-kind experience that just about anyone, regardless of skill, can enjoy.
  24. Ignoring all possible future releases, however, the EyeToy is still a worthy investment for someone seeking a completely new gaming experience.
  25. 9 / 6 / 7 / 6 - 28 [Vol 792; 20 Feb 2004]
  26. Great for parties and provides a very unique experience, but there's not a lot of replay potential for solo players. Still, the concept is definitely exciting. [Nov 2003, p.44]
  27. The Eye Toy experience suffers from the overall lack of precision one would expect from a game that involves little more than waving your hands in vague motions at your TV, but it's still a bold experiment. [Nov 2003, p.86]
  28. 70
Good, earnest fun, like being at the county fair, except it's in your own home, its a Webcam, and it's cool.
  29. Playing EyeToy solo isn't the sort of title that keeps you captivated for the length of time that experienced gamers expect, but it's certainly unique and a good crowd pleaser at gatherings.
  30. 67
The games are junk, but the EyeToy itself is brillian. Pick it up. [Nov 2003, p.47]

Highly addicting, whether your busting ninjas, dancing, spinning plates, boxing, or heading a soccer ball. Some of the games aren't very good, like UFO juggler, or ghost eliminator, but other than those, it's perfect. Buy it now so you get it before groove, play 2, fight, and sports come out in the us.
